The Everlasting Man by G.K. Chesterton. IMO the best book ever written.

What is this about? I have just read his biography of St. Francis of Assissi, which I thought was excellent.

Sorry, I was thinking about "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead." Last semester, I read the drama and attended the university's production, so I've still got it on the brain.
Brilliant play.

I'm not really reading anything in depth at the moment. I'm sort of in the middle of "Guidance and the Voice of God" by Phillip Jensen and Tony Payne. Quite a good read from two very good Aussie Christian writers.

Good series. Have you read them before?

I'm currently reading the Flight of the Shadow by George MacDonald, (very good book, very hard to find though) and Paradise Lost by Milton.

Hello Yahweh Nissi,

It is kind of hard to philosophy, history, cosmology, science, religion....
The intro is great, in it Chesterton describes his attitudes toward atheistic evolution. He talks about mankind, and how we are made in the image of God, and what that means...Part 2 of the book is all about Christ. Reading this book convinced me that the plan of salvation according to Christianity is the only way it could possibly be, it makes so much sense, and is so right. Basically, it really convinced me that Christ is Lord. I think every human being should read this book. I cannot recommend it enough. CS Lewis, another great Christian apologist, said that "Everlasting Man" was the 2nd most influential book in his coming into the Christian faith. One of the chapters in part 2 (I forget which one) is deep in history and you might need some background knowledge for that, but the rest anyone can pick up and understand. GKC is so clear, I think he is the best writer and best thinker of the 20th century.
I read his biography of Aquinas - it was absolutely amazing. Another favorite work of his is "The Man who was Thursday" a fiction story, about everything and nothing at the same time. CS Lewis writes a great intro to it. These are excellent works in every sense of the word, but Everlasting Man is the best.

I am currently reading "A Wise Woman Builds Her House", by Charisse M. Gibert.

Here is what the back cover says....

Can you imagine living in a house that God, the Master Builder, has spec'd? It would be an opulent home with the finest amenities that heaven could offer. And with God's plans, the project couldn't fail. Every part of the building process would be executed with precision- to God be the glory!
Your hope and dreams are achievable!
God has spec'd your home. He has drawn up the fail-proof plans. And you, woman of God, are empowered to build it-with His wisdom.

Utilizing Poverbs 14:1*, Mrs. Gibert writes a book on submitting to God's will in our lives in general, an in our marriages. She outlines many common ideas running amongst Christian women that are perpetuated through the ranks of the worldly, and create strife in our relationship with God, and destroys marriages piece by piece. She uses frequent Bible quotes to show the attributes of the 'foolish woman' and the attributes of the 'wise woman', along with throwing in some life experiences she has had and blessings that she has recieved from following God's instruction instead of that of the world.

**Proverbs 14:1
Every wise woman buideth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands.

I'm reading "Speaker for the Dead" by Orson Scott Card, I think he is a particularly good writer.
He's a good Mormon, isn't he?

I quite enjoyed his Alvin Maker series as well as the Ender series (except for the terrible follow-on books about his brother, sister, Petra, and Bean. I read a couple and then ended up chucking them aside, half-read.) Apparently Wolfgang Peterson is making an Ender's Game movie - exciting!

Have you read anything by LE Modessit Jr.? His work really reminds me of Card, especially the Recluse saga.
