Yeah she is great and so are the other backup singers. So is the original singer on the album Clare Torry. She comes in around the 1.05 minute mark.
I remember watching a doco about how she ended up on the album. The Floyd was always experimenting and using different sounds and voices. They envisioned a angelic voice and brought in Clare who was a session singer and really classically trained. So she was never into the Floyd.
The band had no idea what the section was going to be but it had no words. So Clare had no idea either. So she listen to the music a couple of times went into the booth and then told the engineer to start recording as when its ad lib usually its the first take thats the best as the the 2nd and later takes start to be contrived.
So she did the take in one go and that was it.
