If abiogenesis kick-started life on this planet, which did it kick-start first? plants or animals?

If it kick-started plants, are we plants?

If it kick-started animals, are plants animals?
Neither plants, nor animals were the first life. That role falls to either the archeae, or the bacteria, or their predecessor.

We are animals.

Neither. abiogenesis kick-started self-replicating molecules and branched out from there. Plants and animals are separate branches. That we share common ancestors with plants doesn't make us plants anymore than it makes dogs cats even though they are both carnivores. They are separate branches.

Is that where the reverse osmosis ends?

We are humans, then hominids, then primates, then mammals, then chordates, then animals, then what?

Take us back to abiogenesis.

So what are we between animals and self-replicating molecules?

Take us back to abiogenesis.

Well, the eukaryote domain classification follows the Animalia kingdom.

Not sure what getting water from desalination has anything to do with it.

Is this another 'missing link' type situation? AV isn't happy that humans are (correctly) classed as animals due to biology and thus he needs to find something to nitpick?
I'm just tired of hearing, "Are you a mammal? Are you a chordate? Are you a [whatever]?"

But then they stop short of asking us if we're plants which supposedly had something to do with all this.

Land plants arose earlier than thought—and may have had a bigger impact on the evolution of animals | Science | AAAS

Plants evolved after animals but those terms are very modern and not really appropriate.
