I'm finding that our interpretation of what we are saved from really informs how we read the scriptures and which 'theology' we subscribe to.

So what are you guys saved from?
Theology propper teaches that the wages of sin is death.
God so loved the world that He gave His on Son, that whoever believeth on Him will have everlasting life.

We are saved from eternal condemnation (Ro 8:1) to the wrath of God on our sin (Jn 3:36), through grace by faith in Jesus Christ (Eph 2:8).

We are saved from Death. Death is not simply the act of my physical body ceasing to function. Death is an all-encompassing situation where mankind - and all of creation - is ripped away from God, who is the source of Life. Death is being away from God and having no life in us, always seeking life in ourselves yet never finding it, and trying to find new ways to preserve ourselves, warping ourselves more and more in the process. Just as our physical bodies waste away after they expire, so all of creation has been plunged into what St Paul calls "the bondage of decay".

Good honest answers here, guys.

Now, if I may, here's some follow-up questions:

How do you think 'what we are saved from' shows up in a practical way in our lives? (What we do, what we say, what we type, etc.)

For example, do you think that someone who believes that he is primarily saved from hell (whichever version) would act differently from someone who believes he was saved from himself?

Or has the definition of 'what we are saved from' changed for you during the course of your own walk? How has that affected your relationship with God?

I think the concept of 'saved from hell' is very predominant among the theology of most believers, but it doesnt seem to have much impact on how that's lived out practically. I too have thought about the 'saved from' and 'to what' and I've come to realize that it means SO much more than just saved from hell (which seems to be a concept that doesnt fit into our everyday reality). I see it as saved from death on a more wide level - saved from our sins, from our bondages, delivered from who were are and made free to be who God made us to be. The putting off of the old man and the putting on of the new. No longer dirty and ashamed, but made righteous and clean now able to live the abundant life and to know God forever, not just in heaven but to know and experience Him and His goodness now while in the land of the living.

In how we see and love others as well as ourselves.

Has it changed, Yes. The same but bigger. I feel like I'm being swallowed up (that's a good thing).

Relationship ... From God to Father.

It is suppose to show up in the way we live.

The world lives according to the five physical senses.

The just(born again people) shall live by faith.

I think that what we believe always shows up in the way we live. Just sometimes we don't want to admit it.

I think 'bigger' is a good word.

Not to be too cryptic, but it seems as though when 'we' personally are saved, it is not just 'we' personally that are saved, but everything 'we' touch is also sanctified through Him through 'us'.

Matthew 1: 20 But as he considered this, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, "Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit; 21 she will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins."
