Well, to keep things upbeat, I think it is wonderful that many Protestant groups have maintained a belief in the Holy Trinity, the Virgin Birth, and the literal Second Coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

It's always wonderful to read such an upbeat post, Maximus! :)

May I say what an honor it is to be counted as a friend when visiting here?

Since what I'm facing for the day is housework, my boredom index is quite high. LOL, must... resist... temptation to post all day!

No kidding, I must take a housework break. :)

I would have to say one of the best things to come out of the Reformation was the ecclesiastical music composed by Bach. The Johannes-Passion is one of the most beautiful and moving things to listen to I can think of.

Yes, that and St. Matthew's Passion are among the most beautiful music ever composed.

"After the Liturgy, enjoying Sunday peace at home (sunshine, bare trees), we listened to the St. Matthew's Passion by Bach. Listening to it, I remembered my first 'meeting' with this wonderful music in our little house in l'Etang la Ville, in France. It literally pierced and captivated me then. Since then, every time I listen to it, especially passages like the cry of the daughter of Zion and the final chorale, I come to the same conclusion: How is it possible, in a world where such music was born and heard, not to believe in God?"

J.S. Bach

Two of my personal favorites by him is Mass in B Minor and the Magnificant.

I love Bach, too.

The two things I miss most about the Lutheran Church: Bach and the big pipe organ that delivered his music to us.

Well, and good German potato salad, too! :)
