There was a cult in Thyatira, I believe, which wooed many into mysticism with Satan's "so-called deep secrets." Maybe the passage refers to the false "power" which the cults claimed to be able to give from Satan, or demons, or whatever particular false god the cults were based on. Satan will gladly give an illusion of power to lure people into worshipping him.

My commentary mentions gnosticism. I was wondering if it had anything to do with the Kabbalah or Zohar?

I would imagine that any dark secrets that satan would have to offer would be not unlike his nature and be lies.

2Co 11:14 And no marvel; for even Satan fashioneth himself into an angel of light. 15It is no great thing therefore if his ministers also fashion themselves as ministers of righteousness, whose end shall be according to their works.
