I am thinking of visiting a Messianic shul after the snow is over. What is a typical service like? I remember going to temple on Shabbat and reading from the prayer book. We would have aliyahs for the Cohen and Levi and others. I remember going up with my tallit with yellow roses on it and chanting Torah. Services would end with Adan Olam and a little snack of herring, wine, horseradish and other nibbles afterwards.

Do Messianics recite the Sh'ma and have Torah chanting and follow the prayer book? When I visit, will I see something familiar or be pleasantly surprised?

I would suggest contacting the rabbi or synagogue office of the congregation you are considering and asking some questions - most folks are only too happy to answer your questions - and if they aren't then choose another congregation!! LOL

Hebraic, Joyous! Hebrew songs, Davidic dance/worship, Shema, sometime other prayers from the Sedur, Torah cycle readings with comments by the congregation,, Music and more music. Oneg, Yesheva afterwards for Torah study, and more fellowship. Pretty much all day. But the emphasis, on Yeshua the Living Torah in us, and how we might know and be obedient to Gods will for us.

Charles in Florida, Missing the congregation that he had to leave behind. Having nothing like it here.
