Just out of curiosity, seeing as I have different views than my Catholic icon prematurely suggests, what would those of you who have read my posts and debates categorize me in in terms of beliefs? I realize I have nothing in this OP as to what my nature is, but as that's a rather complicated subject, I'm afraid I'll have to rely on the opinions of those who I have discussed philosophical, moral and ethical subjects with frequently.

I realize that you're turning to people here in the philosophy forums because they're the ones you think who might best know your beliefs. But I must say, if you are a Christian, how can you expect non-Christians to know if you are or not? I'd be careful about who you listen to.

lol, turning to them? I'm just curious is all, and I must admit I get a kick out of the attempts of people to classify me...and it is also through this I hope to attempt to seek people of my mental likeness.
There are other Christian thinkers out there. And even though this is a Christian website, I just don't think that it's the best place to find them.

Brother, you're a Catholic in my book. But then, I've met a liberal catholic or two in my time. Have you ever read Matthew Fox? John Dominic Crossan? Jon Sobrino?

My access to scholarly materials is limited

The point of labels is that other people paste them on me : /
Pity, that! But the thing about labels is that while anyone can try and paste one on you, you're the only one who can make it stick. I know a lot of Catholic theologians, as my seminary is in congregation with two of their theological schools. In my experience, the orthodox corner of Catholicism is very well entrenched, some might say vindictive, but the actual beliefs of its members vary considerably, regardless: more so than in mainstream fundamentalist America for instance.

A lot of the labels Christians stick on the members they view as wayward- atheists, pagans, cultists- are more or less the same labels that were applied to them by the Romans in the early years of the church. The circle goes round and round, and it has more to do with politics and social dynamics than with theology.

There are only one label I use, and that's ignorant, and I stamp atheists, Jews, Christians and everyone all around if they deserve it. It's a magenta purple stamp too, I find magenta purple annoys a good majority of people.

Good thing I hate politics and social workings!

I'm just looking to see what others view me as, as I must confess I'm confusing sometimes even to me.
