• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

A little while ago a non-christian friend and I had a little debate. we were discussing the need for war and he pulled out a passage from the Bible that says "If only you had the faith as little as a mustered seed, you could move mountains". he asked why we need troops in Iraq if all there needed to be was one chaplain or someone with a Bible and some faith, so either the Bible was wrong, or we Christians had no faith. when he finished his question ....... I froze, I had absolutely no answer. My question is, what was I supposed to say How would you have answered.

My reply would have been, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. You could use the same point to say, "Why do we pray for HIS WILL be done when it seems it never is"? Why bother? We can not answer everything even with the bible in hand, the complexities of our Father are far to deep and His ways are not ours. However, having fought many a non-believer, ask this person where their faith is? I mean we would not need war if we where all believers, true. So he is saying we didn't have enough faith to move that mountain without war........in the bible it says,"proverbs, and Luke, Acts too I believe, that the Lord made even evil for the DAY. It is in His plan to separate those that are willing to love and those that are not. We live in the same plate with those that do not, and therefore suffer-Revelation-"the Suffering of the Saints"Our tears will be poured out and justice will be done. Balance to the universe has not happened, we pray for the Peace -in otherwords His coming..only then shall peace be possible. God created all things even evil for the day. If I was ruler of all the universe I would want a new heaven with people that love and care for one another. Athiets say we are Christian-God Puppets. I would rather we a puppet than damned for eternity in disbelief and seperation from God. Tell your friend, there always has been WAR-we are right, and will always be, even after we go to the marriage supper, we the saints will war against those that want their own way before they are defeated and sent away from God and US, forever. Prayer and our faith and living is all we have, in this life and the next. Our memories and good deeds and Love is what we are and will forever be. Or our hate, war and destruction of others, which legacy you choose is always up to the individual, as His will is not forced upon those that choose not to have the smallest faith.....Blessings to you.....

Your friend chose a poor example for his question because the Iraq war is totally senseless with no valid reason to justify the presence of the United States military in that country. In addition the teaching of Jesus he quoted is applicable for individuals, not entire nations, especially one filled with so much astonishing evil as the United States which guarantees that national prayers will be ignored.God answers prayers for those who have a passionate need and desire for His intervention in their lives. As we know, because their is much money to be made during war, there will always be a portion of the population that does not want God to end warfare. Many earn their paychecks from the enormous defense industry, thus insuring that God can not answer collective national prayers for peace because of the lack of unity for this request.:help:

It's ok not to understand some things, and your friend will probably respect an honest "I don't know the answer to that, but I know that God does, and I will trust Him to do what is right"
God is very, very big, and our puny little human minds won't ever understand Him... and that's fine - all we have to do is trust Him :)
