Hey guys; yes it's me AGAIN. Right now my life seems to be stuck in limbo. ... So I ask again, what does God want me to do until he reveals his plan for my life? Thank you for listening to me. Later.
Although you probably dont realize it, you have asked one of the most important questions of our age. The real solution for what you are describing is also the solution for all things.
You are describing the need involved in having no need at hand. You are, as almost all people, trapped in a cage of convenience. You cannot see or feel a need strong enough to overcome your simple desires to be entertained by TV and such. When you feel a need strong enough, you will go toward it and forsake the TV.
I find it disturbing that so many Christians have so much trouble resolving this problem considering Jesus statement concerning an eternal spring that swells from within. That spring is an eternal feeling of need that fills your life and gives it impetus to live.
Hope is found by seeing or feeling the opportunity to resolve a true need. If you cannot see any need, then you also cannot see any hope. Without hope, you remain idle even in the face of threat.
So what you are really asking about is, How can I find a need to address so that I can feel that I am not wasting away?
In todays society, so many needs have been resolved already that people do little more than get involved in distractions and the business of creating them. This of course makes seeing the real needs even harder. The harder it becomes to see real need, the more distractions are pursued so as to have something to keep you alive and moving.
The new age solution to this problem instigated back around 1970 was simply to create change. Along with change comes new apparent needs and thus inspires action. But of course, as always, man never does anything exactly right despite being given detailed instructions. As it turned out, what man did was to cause chaos as his effort to create change. Along with chaos came serious disturbances, violence, disease, and just about everything you wouldnt want. All in the name of causing change so as to present evidence of need.
What man was supposed to do instead was to not agree to disagree as you might have heard, but agree to be both the need and the resolve for each other. The difference would be that you know that your task is one that serves another and you know that your task also creates need for another to serve and the others know the same. This produces change through harmony rather than chaos and creates far more potential to solve the real problem and all other problems as well.
So back to the question, What can I do with my life?
This question is also the one concerning, What is the purpose of life? What you are seeking is a purpose to address.
Of course if such a question hasnt been clearly answered by the greatest minds addressing it, then it should be obvious that the answer is not simple minded and thus easy to state. Any answer would require lengthy explanation to validate it.
Of course, the answer to all problems can be stated in a general sense by simply saying, You decrease the cause of the problem while you increase the resolve of the problem. The issue then becomes, Yeah, but how do I do that?
Since the problem is not being able to see and feel a need to address such as to feel enough hope in doing anything, then you would have to decrease what is blinding you from seeing a need and increase what gives you sight of a need.
Once again, I find it disturbing that so many Christians have trouble giving such sight to the blind considering that Jesus told of exactly how to do it.
You already recognize one need and that is the need to have something you feel worth doing. Your next logical need would address how you go about obtaining one. You have asked that question in your OP.
The answer to all concerns of sight is one of contrast. You cannot see something if it has no contrast from anything else. You are experiencing what happens when your spirit cannot see contrast between real need and mere entertainment. Thus as the formula states, you decrease the ambiguity and increase the contrast.
This all means that you fast and feed. Fasting is what is used to clear the body and spirit of confusing concerns so that it can more clearly address its true needs. Feeding is then what makes it clear as to what truly resolves the need and what doesnt. The fast and feed process gives contrast to the spirit and opens its eyes to life. You can see most clearly what you need when you dont have it just as you can clearly see now that you need to see need worth doing. Would you have ever seen such a thing when you were younger or spoiled with fun activities that kept you occupied?
But dont take the word fast only as it is usually used. The concept of fasting is going without. What you go without is not merely food but any and all things of need so as to give clear sight as to your real needs. Live without shelter for a short time and you can more clearly see the need of having shelter. Live for a short time without some part of that shelter and you can more clearly see if it is truly needed and when. Return to shelter and you can see the resolve it brings and feel an appreciation for having it.
But another important concern of need is that it is always about the future. That future might be only moments away or it might be years away or even centuries if you live for needs outside your body. Thus ask yourself, Will I have all of my needs ensured 20 years from now? Do you have enough of what it would take? And are you certain?
The only way to be certain of such a thing is to be certain of your needs to begin with. So you now have something to do
find out for certain what your real needs actually are and then add to those what will ensure them 20 years from now. The list is quite long and involves other people who have the same needs.
Dont be presumptuous. You cant ensure anything with assumptions. Use the process of fasting and feeding to make a list of certain needs. During this process, you will
feel an appreciation for their resolve. Along with that appreciation, you will gain the hope and energy to become active solving problems and helping others. And more importantly, you will not being doing merely what someone told you that you should do, but you will know that it is something that you must do and you will enjoy the doing.
Be sure to include on your list the need of being able to create joy. Joy is the feeling that results from your spirit seeing progress even though sometimes it isnt real progress. But keep yours real and the joy will never fade, your health will restore, and your prayer will be answered.
