  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I'm married and am going through a divorce. My alleged husband is in jail for about 6 more years. I'm 24 years old. I got married when I turned 18 to spite my family who didn't approve of our relationship. God was not the center of our marriage. I married cause I was pregnant and didn't want my childen to be born out of wedlock. We have two sons together. My question is if I get married again to someone who loves God as much as I do and we have God in the center of relationship and we do things right from the jump, no premarital sex, i commit no adultry, non of that, is that a sin?

Does it matter?

Do we obey Jesus because we love him and ourselves and each other, or do we try and tick all the right boxes to get blessed or guarantee holiness?

If you and this guy love one another and genuinely know it to be right - and have friends, family, church who agree - and are divorced... then whats the problem?

IMO.

I am really sorry for what you are going through. I pray God will bless you and give you peace. Know he loves you and that you are his cherished, precious daughter and he is faithful in all your circumstances.

You are going to get many different answers and understandings of scripture here. Really this is something you need to seek God on.

There is not much point getting into an arguement of scripture about it either. I have a book here that has four christian arguments on M&D (no divorce, divorce and no remarriage, divorce and remarriage if adultery by spouse, divorce and remarriage both ok) all by sincere christians who believe they have understood scripture correctly. That is the trouble with using scripture to make 'laws' in the age of grace. So any discussion like that here is likely to just go around in circles and confuse you more.

I believe that grace applies to ALL of life. That includes marriage. I find the area of marriage to be the most legalistic that people engage in. Our Father is not legalistic and neither should we be. Marriage and divorce are not the only slate that is not wiped clean by the blood of Christ. I believe that if you are divorced you are free to remarry. However as I said I suggest you pray, listen to the Spirit of Christ in you and trust him to lead you into all truth.

Bless you

Hope
