I know but wasn't it hard after watching that movie to think he did go to Hell?Did anyone else feel kind of bad for him and wish it had turned out differently? I mean obviously what Jesus went through was worse and the most important part. He knew what Judas would do and he knew that he had to die for us.Mel really picked a convincing actor to be Judas!

Oh and guess what, about Peter, my son pointed something out to me the other day that I thought was really interesting.

We know that Peter denied Jesus exactly three times right? After Jesus ressurected, how many times did he ask Peter, "Do you love me Peter?" and how many times did Peter answer Jesus? Three times... :)

In the whole the film "Jesus Christ SuperStar" is a waste of film. However, it contains a scene that crystalizes my view of Judas. A heavily conflicted and confused Judas is in desert sifting sand through his hands when a squadron on Israeli battle tanks suddenly appear and chase him through the desert to where Jesus in waiting for him.

I think Judas may have been the only person in history not to have a real choice in how his life would progress. That puts him in a special catagory and one which is impossible to analyze from our point of view.

Given the tone of the movie (that Judas was more of a tragic hero), this would make more sense. That Judas was driven to do what he did.

Of course, what did the jet fighters symbolize after that meeting when he's back in the desert?

What are tanks doing in a movie about Jesus?
You've never seen "Superstar" have you ? The Roman guards carried automatic weapons and the director of the film has an alternate ending with Christ being cruxified on a set of Harley-Davidson motorcycle handlebars.

Its not really historically correct.

He does? Is this on the DVD (is it an easter egg, perhaps)? I haven't seen that one yet.

You know, I don't know.

I get the impression that it was supposed to show that he had been touched and had done what he was supposed to do, but, really, I'm still trying to figure out the screaming monkey in "The Passion", so,..... don't ask me on this stuff.

just to say...It isn't prophecized that the person who would betray Christ would hang himself is it?

But quite simply- we don't know what Judas' last thought on his moment of death was- did he seek forgiveness? I hope so, I think so. I imagine he was definitely not of sound mind when he killed himself, whirled up in a combination depression, anger and remorse for what he had done.
