Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Sometimes we think we will please our Lord by making good things.
Sometimes we use to say: I dont dance, because it is not from God. I dont wear jeans, because I am a woman and I can not use them...I dont listen to secular music... only Christian music... because secular music is from the devil...and I think I am not pleasing God by doing this things...

We are living under the Grace. Making good things BY OURSELVES to please God is often called RELIGION. But the point I want to remark is that God feels pleased on us, because He has chosen us as His sons and we dont need to make good things TO PLEASE HIM. We are living under the Grace!!!

...Then... don´t do right things? We must be good sons of God and make good things...YES!!! BUT NOT TO PLEASE HIM.

what about my fruits? It´s written:
No good tree bears bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit. 44Each tree is recognized by its own fruit. People do not pick figs from thornbushes, or grapes from briers.
Then... should I or shouldn´t I do good things? I need to make right things to have good fruits, right?
Yes!!! But there is one difference between making good things by myself to please God, and... Letting JESUS OF NAZARETH, living in our hearts to produce in ourselves good fruits, that are NICE SACRIFICE, BEAUTIFUL TO GOD EYES!!!
So, don´t do good things to please God... God loves you anyway!!! You better let Jesus to live into your heart and be a... GOOD TREE.
Scripture says:
I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. 6If anyone does not remain in me, he is like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. 7If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you.

God bless you
Hugo.

Hola GodOwnsMe:
I am not sure if I understood your post, but let me tell you that you can not do anything by yourself to please God. Do you feel guilty because you did not talk to anyone about Jesus Today? Do you feel guilty, because you are not doing good things enough?
You only have to do TWO THINGS:
1.- Fearing God, which means not to do things that are wrong to God eyes. I am sure you know what is good and what is wrong.
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge,
but fools [1] despise wisdom and discipline.

2.- Let Him to use you. You can make a thousand of efforts and try to convert people out there... but, let me tell you that the only thing you can do is to be prepared or willing to be used by Him.

So, now that you are claiming for forgiveness... there is only one Individual who died for your sins, ALL OF THEM, no matter how wrong they were... His name IS JESUS OF NAZARETH. And also, he is the only one who can give you such peace that no one in this earth can give you...
I got something for you:
"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
JESUS OF NAZARETH.
C´mon girl, stand up!!!!

1) Yeh.... along with other more complicated stuff.... very detailed things.
2) Yeah.......... well there's stuff I am confused about and stuff I have to admit I've twisted around myself....
well I often feel guilty about things and have rebelled against this feeling (bad thing.... wanna quit doing this !!) but I don't know where these guilty feelings come from........... if it is really God telling me what to do or what I have done wrong...

Thanks heaps that has really encouraged me :):) 1 John 4:4

Hey GodOwnsMe:
I recomend you to read the whole Chapter 8 Romans, specially 8:16 which says:
6The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children.
The Holy Spirit of God gives testimony to your own spirit that you are a Son Of God.
Sometimes when we fail, satanas comes to our mind telling us: You dont deserve to be a son of God, because you are a bad girl, you are a sinner... but those are the moments in which we must be very sensitive to the Holy Spirit which tell us: You are my son, and I have died for your sins...I love you.
When you do something wrong, the Holy Spirit touches your heart in some way you can see you did not do something right... But there is one difference between this feeling and the feeling coming from satanas...The first one generates REPENTANCE... and the second one generates BLAME.
So, Jesus have destroyed every bad spirit for you... they are defeated!!!!
Dont let them make you feel bad...
Go ahead!!!

well,
i do believe there is an element of seeking to "please the lord" even after we are Christians. i mean, hes my closest friend, and one day i will be married to him. what marriage partner doesnt seek to do things to please his/her mate? maybe it isnt a duty of obligation, but it still needs to be done, becuase you love them, and when you love someone you do desire to make them laugh, make them happy, you do desire to do little things for them, that bring them joy. i mean, husbands buy roses for their wives, not only for obligations, but becuase they love to see that smile.
and the more Christ lives in me, the more i want him to increase and me to decrease, i do desire to do little things to please him.

1 cor 8.32
he that is unmarried careth for the things that belong to the lord, how he may please the lord.

prov 16.7
when a mans ways please the lord, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.

2 tim 2.4
no man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please him who hath chosen him to please the lord.

1 thess 4.1
...ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and please God...

hebrews 11.6
but without faith, it is impossible to please him...

we really should seek to please him, it is possible to not please him as christians. just as solomon taught that a child can shame and not please their parents, we can be an unpleasing thing to God.

I just remembered this verse, it is probably paraphrased as my memory seems to be a few bytes shy these days! :)

My grace is sufficient for thee for the power is perfect through your weakness... gonna go look this one up

Found it in 2 Cor 12:9

2 Corinthians 12:9
But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me.

Hello Endure.
Nice reasoning. We must make nice things to please people around us. Now, let´s go to John 6:28-29
Then they asked him, "What must we do to do the works God requires?"
29Jesus answered, "The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent."
I think Holy Scripture reffers to seek the kingdom of God and his justice... to seek having Jesus of Nazareth in our hearts... and everything will come by itself.
God Bless You.
Hugo.
