I guess everyone is pretty tired of hearing about Iraq. But that madman Saddam is still in power in the modern day Babylon. This is very interesting to me, because I believe that this is phase II of Jeremiah 50. I also have a hunch that the rapture will be sometime between this event and Ezekiel 38, but it is just a hunch. I don't have a clue if it is a heavenly hunch or my human hunch. I think we will get to see Saddam get his due, but it could be the straw that breaks the camels back and brings the whole world to the very end of the time of the Gentiles. Jesus said that He would come at an hour when we would least expect Him. Could it possibly be when the Middle East erupts for the final time before the rapture?? Look at Jeremiah 50: 9, does this look like the coalition of great nations coming from Turkey, who just happens to be the only muslim nation that is a member of NATO, and they have so far, taken our side in the war against terror??
-----------------------------------------------------------
Notice the differences in these two verses:

Jer.50:3 - "A nation from the north will attack her and lay waste her land. No one will live in it; both men and animals will flee away." (This was already fulfilled by the Medo-Persians/Phase I.)

Jer.50:9 - "For I will stir up and bring against Babylon an alliance of great nations from the land of the north. They will take up their positions against her, and from the north she will be captured. Their arrows will be like skilled warriors who do not return empty-handed." (This could be the present day coalition that attacks Iraq from Turkey/ Phase II ?)
-----------------------------------------------------------

In 1991 Iraq was attacked from the south, in the Gulf War. America and Britain teamed up together in that invasion, but they attacked from Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. Is there coming a day in the near future that will bring fulfillment to this prophecy. Saddam has been rebuilding Babylon since the Iran-Iraq war ended in 1988. What do you think??

Russia is not a full member of NATO. And Putin seems to have a better attitude towards the West and the US-dominated power structure than some of the former leaders of the Soviet Union.

Russia also realizes that it is not in its interest to support the Muslim nations.

Russia, with its revamped oil production, is now a competitor to OPEC. The recent attempts by OPEC to get Russia to support its policy have been very poor.

Russia also faces the threat of Muslim Ts. Muslim terrorists have been bombing civilian buildings in Russia in retaliation against the war in Chetyna. Putin is aware that a nuclear bomb in the hands of a Muslim terro could very well end blowing up Moscow.

The situation is very much different from the Soviet Union's relationship with the Middle East Muslim states in the 1960s. Now the MEM nations are threatening Russia by supporting seperatist movements in ex-Soviet bloc states and anti-Russian terrorist cells.

Russia is not the only power up there in the north , Islam is there also . And these muslims have Russia's old nukes and Russia has been trying to get them back but they refuse to give them up . Since sept 11 and the suicide bombers in Israel not only the world but also Russia are all getting nervious . They all realise the danger of a mad , crazy , wonna get to heaven fast muslim with a nuke straped to his back . Unfortunatly for Russia she has both muslims and nukes right next door . Is it any wonder she joined NATO .
