What about a learning Diasbility Forum or set of forums

Am I missing these forums or are there any around in CF? Learning disability can really effect a person's life and parents with children with disabilities often need advice from people who've been there. I know there a parents special needs forum here, but it seems its for physical needs, not Learning disabilities.

As far as I am aware, we do not have a forum specifically for that topic.

We have Heath forums here, or course there are disclaimers for them. The addition of new forums requires interest and a need for it.

I myself am a person with a learning disability and I think this is a great idea. Could we found a forum like that? Then I could talk to other people like myself.

I posted on only two message boards this idea and got a much stronger response from those with CAPD on the 60+ board. Still I gotten two responses from the parents site but one did not sound like a child. So maybe a learning disability site is best and would cover all responses.

Then if one group like those with CAPD grows to overwhelm the other disabilities we could extend it as an additional site. This might happen because though CAPD is only 2 % to 5 % inherited, accidents, ear aches and age can trigger this raising the number to around 70 % of the elderly have this. This is likely why the 60+ board had the greater response but this does not mean younger people do not have it as accidents and ear aches happen throughout life.

I understand your frustration. I have CAPD, I suspect a milder form of dyslexia and Autism as well but being a "twice exceptional learner" or someone who failed only sometimes and not horridly and built in early coping mechanism not realizing I fall through the cracks.

You do not sound like a child, but like a more disabled person than I am. Some disabilities can be far more disabling yet even high coper like myself need support as people do not expect us to fail and when we do we often fail gloriously.

Like the time I was telling a group of ten people a funny story that happened on my honeymoon. Only I could not get the word honeymoon, every time I tried to say it, it just disappeared. Usually I's take a synonym but there isn't one for honeymoon. So instead I waited until my husband realized my distress and helped by giving that word every time it came up.

Talk about feeling like a foo, so believe me I understand your situation. Yet those incidents happen to people with CAPD or Central Auditory Processing Disorder. This is also why I asked for that message board. There are a lot of adult disabled people who really need support.We all have bad days and its nice sometimes to just have someone else who understands what its like to feel foolish even though you trying as hard as possible to act normal.

I'm dyslexic and now use Word and Grammarly to get grammar and spelling to an acceptable level. I end by having the computer read it to me.
I'm not sure where this should go, so I'll post it here.

I was surprised to see so many sites with articles on the subject: “Is the Christian church dying?” I don’t know if it is standard practice but use Church when referring to the Church Jesus gave church and us for the various denominations, buildings, etc.

One of the articles contained a survey of major concerns facing Christian in the U/SA. Here are some of the results:

Watered-down gospel teachings 72%
Poor discipleship models 63%
Prosperity gospel teachings 56%
Political Polarization with churches 51%

I’d like to add one: Spending too much time in the Old Testament.

I have noticed the watered-down gospel over the past decades and feel that verse numbering plays a major part in it. We got verse numbering in 1550. The numbering system leaves a lot to be desired. If verse numbers defined sentence, it would be a little better. Using single verses can never replace the teachings of the New Testament.

Discipleship Matthew 16:24-27 (NASB1995)

“Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me. For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it; but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? For the Son of Man is going to come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and will then repay every man according to his deeds.”

I don’t think you have to do much interpreting for the above scripture. I also suggest you read”
1 Corinthians 1:1-17, reading the entire chapter wouldn’t hurt.

The prosperity gospel, I don’t think much has to be said about that. You can have both.

As someone with a rare genetic disability along with autism this idea is a great one. I would love this to come to CF
