I watched an Oprah episode once where a mother cat kept running back into a burning building to get her babies. The mother cat was severely burned, and even caught on fire once (a bystander put it out with a towel) but kept running in there.

I remember someone from the audience just absolutely bawling and they asked her why it had touched her so much. She said "I guess because I see women like Susan Smith murder her own children...and then here's this cat that ruined its own life to SAVE her babies."

I don't guess I'll ever forget that show. It had me weeping.

Something that most people don't understand is that God put all creation, especially animals, on this earth for man's enjoyment. God gave evey living, breathing, creature the same spark of life that He gave to man. The breath of life. It is the result of sin that mankind has sliped so low that there is very little respect for life of any kind. Animals of every kind, both domistic and wild, are mistreated. With each occurance of such cruelty, man bcomes more, and more desinsitized to the ever inreasing cruelty to every other lifeform, includin humanbeings and even their own offspring. Yet the animals still remain devoted to their own, just as God intended. Mankind should take a lession, but they won't. The only thing that will restore man to the original position that God intended for man at creation will be the restoration of man to God's original plan.

"Even so, come quickly Lord Jesus."

Your brother in Christ,
Doc

I have to share a sweet story about my parents' dog.

She was fixed before she ever had any puppies and I never think about that sort of thing bothering an animal, but it definitely does her.

She started bringing up stuffed animals unto the porch (from goodness knows WHERE) and at first I thought she was wanting to play with them. I'd grab them and throw one out in the yard expecting her to "fetch".

She cried when I did it, and I didn't really "get" it then.

One night I looked outside and she was licking the stuffed animal and had it in her doghouse with her (she's a BIG dog). Then it hit me that she thought this little thing was her baby.

She walked around carrying that thing in her mouth for about two weeks and then it disappeared. I found it much later under a bush, totally wet and disgusting.

Then she brought up another one, then another one (and seriously, I have NO idea where she gets these things).

Once she had an Aflac duck and I have never laughed so hard as I did when she grabbed it in her mouth and the duck said "AFLAC!" real loud. She tucked her tail in and yelped across the yard. Bwhahaha.

I bought her a baby leopard that kinda looks like her and that one has been her baby the longest. She takes it everywhere, and brings it to me. She won't let go until I've petted the little thing a long time (she's probably still afraid I'm going to throw it).

It's just really sweet, and she would've been an excellent momma dog.

Oh NightEternal, that totally made me cringe.

One of the best cats I ever had was one I rescued from some football players (at a party and drunk too) tossing it around like a football.

I was a small, scrappy girl and I had some big boys cowering that night for sure. It was horrible what they were doing!

**I would've had a heart attack if you and I had been at the same party! HA! I was starting to think we had been until your story got a lot more macabre than mine was.**
