I think you need to look at the New Scientist article, if you have not already done so, then, if you can be bothered, please read my pages on multi-level selection and group selection where I explain my point of view in more detail.

I could not get the New Scientist article but I read part of you blog post. You put an interesting thought in my brain, thank you for that. I have to reconcile it with previous thoughts and then get back to you.

Oh, and yes I think there is a combination of genes that make us want to explore new worlds.
