Anybody here do the Wesleyan Fast from Thursday evening to Friday afternoon? I think this would be a very good discipline for me and so I'm going to give it a try.

Hadn't heard of that particular kind of fast before. I am fasting right now and while I don't enjoy it, I do enjoy the closer times with God and get to see how he is moving.

I'm unfamiliar with the pattern myself. I'm following a pattern of daily prayer (often using 'Daily Office' meditations) early in the morning, restricting myself to two meals a day with nothing lavish or extravagant, and not eating before 5PM on Friday. That's my lenten practice for this year, anyway. And I'm following a pattern of many of my colleagues in this area and taking money I would've spent at more expensive restaurants, desserts, more groceries, etc., and giving it to organizations that provide food for impoverished individuals around the world.

Sounds good. In the Nazarene church we did not observe Lent. But I get it.

On a previous board I was on (now lost in that black hole called facebook) some of the guys would post devotional thoughts or scriptures every day during lent.

One year I did the same for counting the Omer. Since the 2 observances dovetail (at least time wise) we had 90 straight days of devotionals.
