As pgp protector mentioned it was in a magnetic feild so it floated in the middle of a canister and didnt touch anything, it had a battery that lasted a certain amount of time, so they could move it around easily, then they would just put it back when they were done and the battery would recharge, the people stole it and took it to the vatican and hid it, with the plan that when the battery is dead the magnetic feild dies and the antimatter touches the canister creating a huge explosion.

What will happen:

The collider functions perfectly for a split second. Instantly a ball of highly charged superheated plasma appears in the test chamber in a flash more brilliant than an atomic bomb. The charged ball begins to stablize and the light from the initial flash begins to fade. Only then do the scientists realize, to their astonishment, that they have created a new universe. The universe appears to expand about 1cm in diameter each day.

Time appears to move at an accelerted rate in this new universe and the scientists soon begin to notice the formation of protostars and galaxies. Can planets be far behind? A high-powered microscope discovers the first gas giant several days later. After that terrestrial planets are observed in a galaxy in one far off corner of the new universe. They are rocky and barren but if water could be introduced from the icy comets, could life evolve on one of them?

The scientists attempt to create a robotic apparatus to gently move comets out of their orbits in order to direct them toward two promising looking planets. However as soon as the tip of the apparatus crosses the new Universe's dimensional threshold the whole unit is ripped from its foundation, sucked across the barrier and is destroyed. Horrified the scientists now realize that at the rate the new universe is expanding Earth will likewise be destroyed in less than one month.

They work day and night to develope a way to stop the universe from expanding. However they soon realize that any attempt to stop the universe from expanding will weaken the dimensional gradient throughout and cause the new universe to implode. Finally, with no other choice, they agree they must collapse the new universe in order to save Earth.

Photographs and scientific readings are taking of the few sectors space that are of interest and then the implosion is triggered. In an instant we are all compressed to a size smaller than an atom and are destroyed. For the scientists you see, created our own Universe within the Universe and have killed us all.
