I just picked up You Are Special by Max Lucado, for my daughter (age 4).
What a great way to introduce the concept of God creating us for his own purpose and that we are each designed perfect for what he has intended us for. The art is also excellent. I want to get the other books in the series! I highly recommend these books!
Spoiler below>>>>
In a nutshell, these little wooden people (Wemmicks) spend all day giving each other stickers. They have a box of gold stars and a box of gray dots. They give gold stars to the talented, beautiful Wemmicks and give gray dots to those who may have dents or scratches, or who have difficulty finding their talents. Some Wemmicks are covered in stickers.
One Wemmick has so many gray dots that he is afraid to go outside. All that changes one day when he meets a Wemmick who has no stickers at all. She claims they just don't stick to her. When he asks how this is so, she says its because she visits the carpenter (their creator) everyday. The little Wemmick decides to visit the carpenter himself....
