...I have been saved.

At 4:29 PM Saturday November 3rd, 2007, I have asked Jesus Christ for forgiveness for I am a sinner by virtue of Original sin, and to help me grow closer to God.

I think I've let my political views, what I once believed in life at the door, and willing to live and learn under the guidance of God, and see where it goes. I hope it is a decision I won't regret.

So now how do I change that religion icon thingie now...

And now where do I begin.. or find a good study Bible for cheap/nothing...

Or something...

Hey congratulations! I hope you will enjoy the beginning of your walk with God. It was kinda like a cool, scary disneyland time for me.
I have a Nelson's NJKV study bible personal size I got for 20$, if you need to start with a little easier translation I liked NLT. I have a life application study bible for that translation too. But I am really enjoying my Nelson's for the moment. Get a dry bible highlighter so you don't muss all your pages, if you highlight.
You can change you icon under control panel, edit profile, is about the third box down. Pm me if you have any Christ newbie questions, but I'm still quite a baby too.

Oh wow, how awesome! You gave me goosebumps just reading what you wrote and made my night worth coming online.

Okay, on your icon, send a pm to geocajun. There's a list of icons, but you might want to choose christian, others are denominations really, mine is non denom is type of church i used to go; to but it doesn't matter except as pertains to the congregations here on the board, so christian is fine.

pm either
Either Geocajun http://foru.ms/u5948
or
Letalis http://foru.ms/u73613

hmm, a good bible cheap.

ok, I checked your age icon and there's a bible that's popular but I just looked and the picture doesn't match the one I have in mind. I thought it was called an niv student bible. niv stands for new internatinal version.

If you can, I remember you said you had some Christian friends, and if you want to ask them for a good idea where to get a bible - they could probably help you.

A church might give you one.

God wow, I am so happy for you. You even know the time, date, to the minute.

Okay, 2nd hand book stores also have bibles. Get a version that is easy to read. Such as an NIV, new international version; it's important to be able to read it. I'll be praying for a bible for you.

Now what to do; it sounds like you are around youth and you may be able to connect with others to find a church to go to or a bible study. Bible studies are neat because they are small and informal generally and you make friends in those settings.

church is also neat; and you find one you feel comfortable at. If there's a lot of youth in your area; they may know of one.

When a pastor teaches you want to notice christ centered messages; about Christ, is a key that you're in a good church. many abound, churches, and it can take time to find one you feel at home at.

for now, you can start reading the bible online.

www.biblegateway.com

choose niv or new international version (there are many versions which is neat)

it's a pull down menu.

many say to start in the book of john. Not sure why, but is what many say to do. It's the first gospel in the new testament. So, you type in john and the and then the book of john comes up, click on that, it takes a bit to get used to pull down menus. On the menu in bible gateway has new testament or old, and you choose new, or 2nd has genesis thru revelation, will pull up all books.

http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?book_id=50&chapter=1&version=31

this brings you right into chapter one of john.

read and questions will come to mind. Keep reading or ponder your questions, keeping them in mind (ask God to help you as you read) and to guide you.

Brother, keep in mind that christians are just human, and any one of us, or one in real life can say things to you that if you let it can cause you to stumble. I pray none do, but it can happen at times.

The way to avoid this is to do what my pastor first taught me, is to not look at the pastor, or any other christian, but to focus on Christ. So focus on Christ rather than on Christians, as God never lets you down, where we can let you down, and your faith needs to of course be in Christ and not in Christians.

I hope I'm not giving you too much to do.

Please send me a pm anytime.

When I came to Christ, at the church I was going to 3 women or so reached out to me, and I had tons of questions, was a good church and was grounded in Christ very much so because it was a church where Christ is central (applied to all sermons) and the women helped me a lot, and the small bible study helped me a lot. I also went to prayer meetings, even tho I never prayed outloud, still don't to this day 20 years later, and it was all awesome.

But God will guide you as you go and you'll see where to be. May God give you a deep hunger for his word, and godly men to disciple you or help you as you grow in Christ.

Many things occured to you when you came to Christ.

Your name was written in the book of Life.
The angels rejoiced when you came to Christ.
The Holy Spirit (God) indwelled you, sealing you with a mark, guaranteeng your salvation when you came to Christ.

There's much more.

God will never leave you nor forsake you.
He is always there with you.

well, I'll stop writing, but thank you for making my night. Wow, and please pm me anytime, never to be shy, Im on nearly all the time as well.

Here is the 1st verse in the book of john at link above:

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2He was with God in the beginning.

The Word is Jesus. Just thought I'd give you that start.

blessings,
tapero

[FONT=&quot]Just make sure your seeking Gods Guidance and not following after other men just because you think they are godly.

Remember who your God is, He is your Redeemer and in the end you will face Him one on one.

So yes, get a Good bible. I would recommend a NKJV.

Always remember that God holds the Keys to understanding and His guidance in reading His word beats all human guidance by a couple of light years. So remember to always ask God before you read to help you understand the things He wants you to understand.

You should understand that you might not get to know all the things you want to know, but those who seek with a genuine heart are granted to know all that they need to know when they need to know it.

All Praise The Ancient Of Days

...for I am a sinner by virtue of Original sin...
I hate to be the only nit-picker here, but I find this phrase rather disturbing. Maybe you didn't mean it that way, or there's more to it than what you wrote. If I'm mistaken, I apologize and ask you to forgive me.

While it's true that you are a partaker of Original Sin by virtue of being human, it's pretty much a slap in the face of God to say that Original Sin is the only sin of which you are guilty. A person must be convicted and ashamed and repentant of their own personal sin before God.

Perhaps I am wrong. I would love to hear how the Holy Spirit has been transforming you and your life since you made your confession, and profession of faith. Please come back and let us know how it is going.

when I confessed, I didn't say "original sin" but "for all of my sins against you". What I understand, original sin is in which Adam and Eve ate the fruit from the tree against God's wishes, and that we are all born on this earth inheriting the sin done by Adam and Eve, and by virtue, needing the forgiveness by God made available by Jesus and the price he paid on the cross.

I apologize if my wording is bad/horrible/downright awful.

Sorry to put you on the spot. Thanks for clarifying. I'm glad you hear that you confessed your own personal sin, as is proper.

And how is your new life in the Lord?
How are you different?

Sweetheart, what amazing news! How do you feel?:hug: You know, when someone comes to Christ, the angels throw a huge party in Heaven :D

Am so happy for you, dude :hug:

In terms of how to start... there's no set way, because God will instruct you. But if you have a church nearby, they should give you a Bible. And there's www.biblegateway.com which is the entire Bible online verse by verse where you can start familiarizing yourself with it.

And we're all here any time you need advice or support. This is such wonderful news, sweetie, and thank you so so much for telling us :hug::hug:

Hey there, congrats....huge first step....

Christianity is a growth and a race to be run....and won....

there are plenty of free websites that will give you plenty of info....good and bad...

important to realize, that most Christians have different opinions on the meat of the Word....we all agree on the milk but most differ on the prophetic parts,........so get yourself a real good dose of milk first, and then eat some meat...

I recommend The Companion Bible....published by Bullinger....circa 1921....it is a KJV with 200 appendix's...study bible, no commentary, but Greek and Hebrew word corrections (margin), letting the reader see what was meant to be seen....IMHO

hard-copy is not cheap, but all the work is online and free to those who want it....try a Google search....

in His service
