...I have been saved.
At 4:29 PM Saturday November 3rd, 2007, I have asked Jesus Christ for forgiveness for I am a sinner by virtue of Original sin, and to help me grow closer to God.
I think I've let my political views, what I once believed in life at the door, and willing to live and learn under the guidance of God, and see where it goes. I hope it is a decision I won't regret.
So now how do I change that religion icon thingie now...
And now where do I begin.. or find a good study Bible for cheap/nothing...
Or something...
Oh wow, how awesome! You gave me goosebumps just reading what you wrote and made my night worth coming online.
Okay, on your icon, send a pm to geocajun. There's a list of icons, but you might want to choose christian, others are denominations really, mine is non denom is type of church i used to go; to but it doesn't matter except as pertains to the congregations here on the board, so christian is fine.

hmm, a good bible cheap.
ok, I checked your age icon and there's a bible that's popular but I just looked and the picture doesn't match the one I have in mind. I thought it was called an niv student bible. niv stands for new internatinal version.
If you can, I remember you said you had some Christian friends, and if you want to ask them for a good idea where to get a bible - they could probably help you.
A church might give you one.
God wow, I am so happy for you. You even know the time, date, to the minute.
Okay, 2nd hand book stores also have bibles. Get a version that is easy to read. Such as an NIV, new international version; it's important to be able to read it. I'll be praying for a bible for you.
Now what to do; it sounds like you are around youth and you may be able to connect with others to find a church to go to or a bible study. Bible studies are neat because they are small and informal generally and you make friends in those settings.
church is also neat; and you find one you feel comfortable at. If there's a lot of youth in your area; they may know of one.
When a pastor teaches you want to notice christ centered messages; about Christ, is a key that you're in a good church. many abound, churches, and it can take time to find one you feel at home at.
for now, you can start reading the bible online.
www.biblegateway.com
choose niv or new international version (there are many versions which is neat)
it's a pull down menu.
many say to start in the book of john. Not sure why, but is what many say to do. It's the first gospel in the new testament. So, you type in john and the and then the book of john comes up, click on that, it takes a bit to get used to pull down menus. On the menu in bible gateway has new testament or old, and you choose new, or 2nd has genesis thru revelation, will pull up all books.
http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?book_id=50&chapter=1&version=31
this brings you right into chapter one of john.
read and questions will come to mind. Keep reading or ponder your questions, keeping them in mind (ask God to help you as you read) and to guide you.
Brother, keep in mind that christians are just human, and any one of us, or one in real life can say things to you that if you let it can cause you to stumble. I pray none do, but it can happen at times.
The way to avoid this is to do what my pastor first taught me, is to not look at the pastor, or any other christian, but to focus on Christ. So focus on Christ rather than on Christians, as God never lets you down, where we can let you down, and your faith needs to of course be in Christ and not in Christians.
I hope I'm not giving you too much to do.
Please send me a pm anytime.
When I came to Christ, at the church I was going to 3 women or so reached out to me, and I had tons of questions, was a good church and was grounded in Christ very much so because it was a church where Christ is central (applied to all sermons) and the women helped me a lot, and the small bible study helped me a lot. I also went to prayer meetings, even tho I never prayed outloud, still don't to this day 20 years later, and it was all awesome.
But God will guide you as you go and you'll see where to be. May God give you a deep hunger for his word, and godly men to disciple you or help you as you grow in Christ.
Many things occured to you when you came to Christ.
Your name was written in the book of Life.
The angels rejoiced when you came to Christ.
The Holy Spirit (God) indwelled you, sealing you with a mark, guaranteeng your salvation when you came to Christ.
There's much more.
God will never leave you nor forsake you.
He is always there with you.
well, I'll stop writing, but thank you for making my night. Wow, and please pm me anytime, never to be shy, Im on nearly all the time as well.
Here is the 1st verse in the book of john at link above:
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2He was with God in the beginning.
The Word is Jesus. Just thought I'd give you that start.
blessings,
