Miss Mayberry, that sounds so awesome! I signed up to volunteer at one of those places, but they didn't need anyone at the time. I hope I get to someday though.

Oh, it's such a blast. The only hard thing about it is saying good-bye to the kids. You really get attached in four lessons, and it's so hard to let them go. Most of the kids are from the surrounding area, though, so I see them at Wal-Mart or something every once in a while. Of course, the parents are clueless as to who I am, since the kids come with their school class, and I'm like, "Warren, how's it going, man!?" And the parents are like, "Uhh...do we know you?":p

I completely understand what y'all are saying about dealing with older people! Some of the parents that come out with their kids to the private classes don't like anything about me, and they give me a hard time. My age, my knowledge of what I'm doing, what I do and don't know about their child, whatever they can find that makes me look unqualified for what I do. I do understand why they want to know everything from my name to my shoe size, though. I know I'd be a little worried that this fourteen-year-old was handling a horse that my five-year-old son was riding. :)

Oh, geez. I apologize for rambling.

This week is my horse camp......and I'm having a BLAST! I'm learning how to barrel race. I've never gone so fast in my life! It's like.......well, I don't know what it's like. But it's
And we do fun stuff like the Pepsi race on horseback and we go swimming and stuffsies too. :D It's nice after having to work out there so much and just watch ppl ride, instead of riding yourself. ;)

I will say a prayer for the horse! I hope everything works out. While we are on the subject, will you all pray that I find a good trainer for my 3 year old? Me and my friend were going to do it this summer, but things aren't working out. He is an awesome horse, but we are both working more than we had anticipated, and we can't get out there as often as we need to. So I am going to start looking for someone.

Hi all!

I'm Sharon and I'm 100% horse crazy. I am 16 years old and have ben riding for 8/9 years. I ride english and my passion is show-jumping. I course around 4'3"ish and jump single fences of higher. Highest I've ever jumped was 5 ft. My goal in life is to work with horses, I have the intentions of becoming a pro show-jumper within the next couple of years. I would like to start competing at the Grand Prixs in 2-3 years time and hopefully you will see me competing at the 2012 Olympics. :D

Right now I have one horse. Her barn name is Willow but I registered her as Standing Ovation. She is a 5 year old chestnut Irish Sport Horse mare and has great bloodlines. She is just green broke and currently is in training to jump. :)

Getting back into horses. I'm looking into joining the equestrian team at my school.

I used to have a 14h bay Arabian mare. Not the most type-y girl, but an Arab through and through. Wonderful with handicapped riders and small children, was a handful for advanced riders. We did mostly english, as she had these big, beautiful strides.

No horse currently, but getting ready to get back into it; got a new helmet, and a pair of breeches, and got my boots and stuff out of storage.

That's great you're getting back into horses! I couldn't live without mine! :D I just bought an english saddle (which is coming from Maryland). I'll be riding my greenie western and my lovely Appy mare english. Both are night to day difference anyway, so I figure the styles suit them! I'd like to start showing english pleasure next year.

Glad to hear you are getting back into horses! I couldn't live without mine either. I went out to see them yesterday. It was so nice to just hang out with them. They are both missing shoes, so I gave them a bath and groomed them. Twas fun!!! :)

I almost got bucked off yesterday ya'll! I was riding Chevvy (not chewy....Chevvy, like the truck Chevy ;)), as I usually do. I hadn't ridden him in over a week. Anyways, he obviously hadn't been ridden as much, because he was quite hyper. So I'm on this trail, and a horse fly keeps buggin' him while I was doing a short canter. So he starts on a bucking spree. I stayed behind the others with one of my friends who was riding a bucking/rearing horse also! We had THE BEST TIME! The whole time we were laughing and they were bucking. We totally didn't want them to stop. :D It was hilarious.:p

Horses are great for companionship. There aren't many nicer things than the look they give you early in the morning, as the first rays of sun are coming up, and you feed them. There's somehting almost magical about them; so gentle and serene.

Or when you're having a bad day, and they'll just touch their muzzle to you.

They are amazing animals. If I am having a bad day, it always cheers me up to go out to the barn and visit my "boys". It never fails to make me feel better. I don't even have to ride, juts grooming them lifts my spirits. Also, I love how they smell when I get them out from the pasture. Nothing smells better than a sun-soaked horse right out of the pasture!!

BTW, has anyone seen ridesawhitehorse lately? Or LunarSparkle?

Hiya all! August was a bit of an odd month for me, horses took over my life a little too much, I had lots of shows which were brilliant, but I am sad to say I let them push me away from God for a while.

Anyway I'm back and things are going well now! We did our last show of the season last weekend, my horse was an absolute star - he really rose to the occassion, it was the national championships. We finished 7th out of 10 in a class that the top 10 young riders from various qualifiers rode in. He came 20th out of 40 in his main class - completely beyond expectations. And also went very well in the level above, although finishing lower we got some very good (for us) scores.

Loki, i hope you have fun getting back into horses!

And I totally agree about them being such incredible animals, moonshine is so sweet when I'm down! He too has never failed to cheer me up!

On a slightly sad note, I'm going to university in 3 weeks, so will be leaving moonshine at home

Glad to hear you did well at the shows! I will keep you in my prayers that you renew your relationship with God!!! I sometimes get so caught up in other things I lose sight of Him too. I went out to see my boys Saturday and had the most amazing time! I rode about 2 hours, and the weather was so amazing. It was so nice to be out riding. Then, I went out in the pasture to check on a friends horses shoes, and my 3 year old followed me all the way back to the barn. I just love when he does that. It is so sweet when he will leave all his "friends" to be with me. I just love him to death!!! I had him out earlier and put him away when I rode, so I was surprised he wanted to come ine again. He is such a sweetie. :)

Horselovers, where are you? I'm a semi-pro trainer. Meaning, I would be full time if I got enough work to stay alive thru the winter. LOL. I do natural horsemanship. I worked for a great trainer, Barb Fredenberg, in WA. state. Spent 5yrs with her. Been on my own for almost 4yrs. I start colts, fix behavior problems, trailer loading (and un-) LOL, and spookproofing. Went to a great clinic the 19 th., with Steve Rother. Well, I hope some of you come back soon.

Yeah, where did all the horse people go? Hey mustang_94, can you move to MO? lol I have a 3 year old I am going to get trained this spring. I was going to do it myslef, but I have school and work, and I can't get out there enough to do it. It's not fair to him. Anyway, he is a great horse. He really just needs to be ridden and stuff a lot. I have been on him some, and he doesn't buck or anything crazy, he just needs to learn. He is definitely not "spooky", he is very calm. Nothing much bothers him. I can't wait to start taking him on trail!! You could work on my other horse too!! lol He HATES trailers!!!!!!!
