hi all. sorry but ive never heard of the cavalry chapel church. but I am interested in learning about your church so welcome.
I am very proud of what calvary chapel has stood for in the past.
I believe, to me it revolves around expository preaching.
pastor's have to love the Bible, and I mean love it....to survive.
a typical seminary grad, won't cut it.
most of the pastors I have seen in this movement never went to Bible College, and got their theology training from chuck's expository tapes through the Bible.
the ministry still exists, it's called fire fighters for Christ.
because of Calvary Chapels love for teaching cover to cover, the Bible.
it grew and grew and grew.
I have attended two other churches other than calvary chapel.
a reformed church, and a non denominational church.
I even left calvary chapel, ultimately to come back to it.
I remember Chuck smith mentioning Haley's Bible Handbook many times, I grabbed a copy,
and in the Book it says "the most important thing in this book"
and it was that people read the Bible cover to cover, and that the sermon on sunday come from a verse by verse exposition and daily reading.
He goes into how this blesses the church more than any growth seminar, or evangelism tactic, or anything else.
if you feed the sheep, they will come.
healthy sheep reproduce.
and that is in a nutshell, what calvary chapel is about.
