The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.
If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.
If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Thank you. I'm a married mum with a teenage son, living in England. I work for the Church of England, helping them to understand autism and Asperger syndrome, and for other charities, places and organisations too. I have a diagnosis of Asperger syndrome, am also face-blind, my co-ordination isn't good, and I have major sensory issues. But there again, I have a brain that can handle some tasks 40% faster than most people, see detail that others can't, hear detail that others can't, and sense the world in ways that are sometimes amazing.
I'm different, but I'm not broken, and I don't see it as a disease or a mental illness. It's a different design of brain, differently wired. Not always compatible with the social world around us, alas.
God is so important in my life, and always has been. People sometimes think that those with an ASD can't possibly understand God or faith. I do struggle with some of the language and ideas, certainly, but I know people with Asperger syndrome who are Vicars and who do an excellent job of it.
So, that's a bit about me.
I'm different, but I'm not broken, and I don't see it as a disease or a mental illness. It's a different design of brain, differently wired. Not always compatible with the social world around us, alas.

Very nice to meet you Amberlight. I have a 5 yr old son diagnosed with high functioning autism. My hubby is most likely Aspbergers but doesnt have any official diagnosis. I appreciate you sharing.
