  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I got to thinking, all three of my pregnancies have had some similarities, but overall they have been pretty different. The basics are always there - tiredness, nausea - but the details have varied enormously. e.g. with ds 2, I got skin tags

This time, I have had a lot more ear wax. Also pretty

What have your most weird and wonderful symptoms been? Let's celebrate the wonderful variety of effects of hormones on our bodies!

With my second child, I vomited most mornings. What's unusual with that you say???

Well, there was absolutely no nausea, and about 10 seconds warning that I was about to hurl. I would be sitting there calmy eating my breakfast, then all of a sudden up it would come. Really really annoying

After a few weeks I figured out the triggers seemed to be drinking a cup of tea, then eating breakfast. So I could do one but not the other. I chose breakfast, had to have my tea later in the day. And I had to eat breakfast really really slowly. Like one small bite every 5 minutes.

It felt ridiculous considering I was feeling fine, but I persisted so I didn't vomit.

That was the only pregnancy I had that with. Bizarre!

Nausea at the weirdest things... (like walking down the street and someone's perfume can send me reeling) like food I just cooked...

I can't eat breakfast most days because I am just not hungry and eating makes me feel sick...

I have to eat all hot or warm food at intervals... LONG intervals. Like 5 minutes of eating a little and wait 30 minutes. Makes dinner not fun when you have to warm it up 3 times or more.

I can't usually eat meat. I'm practically lacto-ovo vegetarian at this point... It doesn't matter the source of meat or how kosher it is or how it is pepared... if I so much as smell it, my stomach feels twisted and upside down, then I get nauseated...

I can eat eggs or fish, but chicken, beef or lamb is not sitting well.
There wasn't a day I went without meat before!

Ummmmmm... gas gets stuck in weird places (upper chest or side), even if I didn't have carbonated water...

Water tastes funny so I have to alternate my liquid sources between lemonaid and tea and juice with water.

I almost didn't eat much last week, I had constant nausea (that was week 7!)

I'm not having "morning sickness" like most people.. not at all. I haven't tossed my cookies once (thankfully), but then again I've not really had any cookies to toss and I eat really small amounts here and there.

Prenatal vitamins... those are the closest I get to never keeping dinner or lunch... those things are soooooooooo nasty! (I can't have gelatin and have to get special made vegan/celiac friendly kind which stink to high heaven and taste yuck!)

LOL

I've been there.. and I was there even before this.

The worst thing is the breakouts. I thought I was going to be over this, and here I am breaking out almost as bad as I did a few years ago, before I had figured out my dietary issues, not to mention my hormones had straightened out. argh!

Another weird thing is, I have very dry skin. Most women report oilier skin in pregnancy, and breaking out. I had "combination" skin before getting pg---my t-zones were so oily--and now it's so dry. I have dandruff too, which I never had, even in winter. I'm so very itchy all over my body. Ugh.

I have been breaking out, more than when i was going through puberty. (not that i had many pimples then, never more than about 3 at a time, but now... i have heaps!!!).
Also i get my eyebrows waxed... and they have been growing back so quickly that it looks like i haven't had them waxed in like over 2 months. I feel like a bush pig!!!

I know what ya'll mean!!

I had combination skin, which I was able to manage rather well with water and with olive oil... and now.. I haven't a clue really what to do as it is going between dry and really "pocked" with pimples that just appear overnight :)swoon:) not to mention the psoriasis I had mostly under control after my wedding is back like it was when I had used a hairspray that had wheat in it.. :sigh: I dunno what to do really other than wash all the time and put NOTHING on my head, but even then that wouldn't help much either. LOL :help:

The hormones can be fun or really aggrivating. Last night I was talking to my DH about how we could install a 'makeshift' shelf in my bathroom using leftover wood from our kitchen unit's delivery and by getting a long peice (4x6) of wood cut down to size, and install the peices of wood we already have (once trimmed) as the 'brackets' to hold the shelf unit up and thereby incur minimal cost to put in more space in the tiny guest/my bathroom so it isn't so cluttered.

He insists that I was basically speaking Chinese and he had no idea what I was talking about, which caused me to explain again as slowly as possible and he just sits there scratching his head saying 'I still don't get it!'.. I got so upset I was shaking and having to keep from dragging him out of bed to shop him visually of which I was speaking...

I had the same problem at the store trying to tell him what I needed to get my curtain units installed satisfactorily in our diningroom/living room area, and he still didn't get the right peices and we need to make a return/exchange..

I don't know how usual this is but my hormones are all over the place, judging from my mood.

The first 7 weeks were fantastic - I always felt emotionlly well, but now I seem to keep crying at the most bizarre and random things.

Sounds normal. I was incredibly weepy these first three months, calmed down now, huzzah. In previous pg I couldn't watch ER without sobbing.

I got a lot of gray hairs, dandruff and really dry skin with my 1st & only pg :)

Ditt the dandruff this time. Head and Shoulders seems ot be working... that, and cream sweaters!

I have very very itchy arms. I think this wins for me as my personal weirdest symptom this time.
