  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

weird experience

I've had times where I was just awaking, my eyes would barely open and I was conciously aware but I couldn't move my arms or legs no matter how hard i tried - I would usually fall back alseep briefly then full wake up and everything would be normal.. is that what they call sleep paralysis?

Gwendolyn, is that Daenerys Targaryen in your avatar?

Yes. It is also often accompanied by frightening hallucinations. Really scary stuff. But not always.

I wondered that, too...and I'm pretty sure it is. :) I read the books ages ago...and haven't picked up the one that just came out. But, I saw part of the 'movie'...and I was not impressed. :)

When this happens, I don't have any frightening hallucinations - actually I am awake enough to know I'm awake but completely unable to move any part of me...

I never read the books, but have seen the whole 10 part first season of Game of Thrones. My friends who have read the book say it follows the first book almost exactly... The author was very impressed with how closely the series followed his writings. I loved the series, fantastic photography and acting... and very addictive, more so because I didnt watch them till the first season was over so i was able to watch a new episode every night... has me hooked! But, so does True Blood so i digress..

One more thing, and then I'll stop hijacking Jared's thread. ;) I guess I just watched the first 'episode'...and yes, it did follow the events of the first part of the book almost exactly. The problem was...HUGE parts of the narrative are never explained...so you have no clue as to the characters motivations, or history, prior to them just showing up and blurting out seemingly random dialog. So for me to watch it, having already read the book, the characters seemed very hollow...although Sean Bean does medeival so well. I lost interest in the books as the series went on...I won't say why, because I don't want to spoil the story for you...and as a result, I am not even interested in getting the last book that was just released.
