  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hey Guys,

I'm still struggling with the nightmares and stuff but I had a dream last night that seemed to not be evil, just really strange.

In this dream my family and I are waiting for some people to arrive at my grandparent's chicken house (We're in the poultry business) and while we're waiting, we were using this giant frozen yogurt/cake machine. This machine was activated by a lever and you could make your cake/yogurt however big you wanted it and could use different flavors. You had to put ice in a small tub for it to work though. It's hard to explain but that's the best way I can describe it. Anyway, I wanted to make a small square plain vanilla one and I was so excited to make it and knew it would be delicious (funny because I don't even know what it was I was going to eat). I decided to let my brother go first. He makes his and then I let my Dad. My Dad makes a pretty big one and it takes a little while. My older brother was controlling the flavors and my Dad got kind of agitated because he wanted mint and my brother was putting chocolate on it. Afterwards, my uncle went. I was still eager, but he decided to make a gigantic one. It took a really long time and when it was finally my turn the people arrived so we had to start working.

I walked to the tub and realized there wasn't enough ice for me to make one. I thought "maybe if I go get more ice real fast I'll have enough time to eat it and work afterwards." As soon as I thought this my Mom put the guilt trip on me and said "aren't you going to go help?" I knew I needed to so I began to get really angry. I was shouting sarcastically "woooo lets work I'm ready to do this." as I was running to the chicken house, but my family couldn't tell I was sarcastic, only my Mom. She then begins to chase after me and I'm being very rude to her. She says "I know Satan's spirit when I hear it and that is not you!" but I put my finger up and said to hush.

Suddenly there is a bunch of people and I begin to get embarrassed because my Mom was yelling at me in public. Then the dream totally changes.

All of a sudden my younger brother appears next to me and says " dude don't think you're a failure." (After my bad experience I dropped out of school, don't stay in contact with my friends, and have no idea what to do with my life anymore and I pray about it alot.) He then said "I'm the failure." (He has cerebal palsy which limits him). I got upset and said "no dude don't say that, you aren't a failure." He then asks me "What are your fears?" I sighed and said "I have several" and then I woke up.

My dreams are really strange I know. I prayed about the interpretation. Let me know what you guys think.

The dream might reflect a need to place God's call on your life first, regardless of the opinions, expectations and pressures of man. You are letting others go ahead of you. It looks good on the surface, but it's not from the heart, as is shown by your later cutting remarks.

Sometimes deferring to others is the good and right thing to do. But when it comes to God's call on us, that has to come first, and if we try to please others rather than God, we are in trouble: "fear of man is a snare". People use guilt and fear to pressure us to do things their way. It's a form of control. The "chicken" house might connote fear as a motivator for appeasement.

As Christians we will have plenty of hard work to do. But our strength lies in taking in the goodness of God. We should not feel guilty about abiding in the sweetness of His peace and love. Indeed, He has commanded us to (Jn 15), because "without [Him] we can do nothing". It is essential that we dwell in God's sweet presence for our sustenance.

The last scene seems to clarify that natural limitations do not define us. There is nothing holding you back. We are not failures because we have physical, mental, financial or personality limitations. We can only fail if we do not place Christ first in our lives. In Him there is only victory, though there may be difficulty and persecution along the way, because He has ALREADY secured the victory. But if we settle for a mediocre peace based on getting along with others, we will miss the victory He wants us to have.

.
It would help you very much to make a list and pray over each fear. One at a time until it is resolved (so you will need to prioritize them, in order to do focused prayer). God will bring truth through answering your prayers, speaking directly to you about them, and by highlighting His truths in a new way while reading His Word regarding each fear.

He will bring light and healing to you, and give you a deep peace to live out the rest of your days here. (In Jesus name...Amen)

Thanks a lot you guys. Yeah I have several fears. I try not to be afraid but it seems I can't help it. I believe in Jesus and his word, yet I still fear. I don't know how to overcome them.

I mostly fear God's judgment since I experienced some during a drug experience. I have this fear of God returning and I'll be with the goats. I know that nothing I do is worthy of being with Jesus and that his grace is sufficient for me, but I still struggle with these things.

I love God so much, but I fear him too.

Look what God has to say about you loving Him and the promises that follow that love and faith;

Psalm 91

1 Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.”

3 Surely he will save you
from the fowler’s snare
and from the deadly pestilence.
4 He will cover you with his feathers,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
5 You will not fear the terror of night,
nor the arrow that flies by day,
6 nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
nor the plague that destroys at midday.
7 A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.
8 You will only observe with your eyes
and see the punishment of the wicked.

9If you say, “The Lord is my refuge,”
and you make the Most High your dwelling,
10 no harm will overtake you,
no disaster will come near your tent.
11 For he will command his angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways;
12 they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
13 You will tread on the lion and the cobra;
you will trample the great lion and the serpent.

14 “Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him;
I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
15 He will call on me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble,
I will deliver him and honor him.
16 With long life I will satisfy him
and show him my salvation
