  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Yah I've read some about the historical background and when we were in fellowship, but what I usually hear about MS is that some congregations are really liberal and others are like the wels, so i was curious to know what a MS member would say...

There are a number of what I call "rogue congregations" that tend to lean a little left, but they are not operating in line with the official teaching and practice of the synod. The synod was founded on a set of principles that many of us within the synod, and even some from outside the synod (although I don't agree with their tactics all that much) have been fighting to maintain. I would say that most congregations are within the teaching and practice of the synod. One of the biggest problems that I see within the LCMS is their failure to police their member congregations. Too many are allowed to function apart from synod guidelines.
