Weekend Challenge -- Water Reflections

The subject will be reflections off water. I'll place no further limits on the subject -- doesn't have to be water in nature, or standing water... just has to have obvious reflections.

I'll take submissions here until the contest ends on Tuesday April 19 (with some, but not much leeway for technical problems...).

The prizes will be 3000 blessings for first place, 2000 for second and 1000 for third. I'll choose the winners myself (with the help of my wonderful girlfriend) and probably announce winners on the weekend.

I'm open to manipulation in photoshop or other media with the restriction that the reflection itself must be natural -- but I'll allow considerable manipulation. I'm looking for a realistic picture, but if you can produce it with photoshop, go ahead. Again, the reflection must be natural (i.e. in the original picture) but after that I won't hinder your creativity further.

I haven't put much thought into the actual rules of this one, so if I've missed something, please let me know.

For this challenge, each person will be allowed up to 2 submissions. There's also no restriction on who can submit -- those who entered simply got a PM to let them know that the contest started and what the subject was.

This might be a stupid question, but does the photo have to be taken during the time period of the contest, or can I use one I took a few weeks ago?

It should be taken this weekend. I obviously can do very little to control submissions (unless you happen to leave EXIF info in the jpeg, but I intend this challenge to get people to go out and take pictures, not just root through old photos for a good submission.

Right. You don't actually have to be able to tell what it is, but it should be a reflection from water. Like a reflection from a mirror... but... from water.

Okay I have one - I was going to post one I have of a bridge reflected in the water but it was taken over a year ago. So I'll post this one that was taken on Friday - it's in the Lake District!!!

hmmm....can you push back the date a little bit? I finished shooting my film, but I have to wait until tuesday at the very earliest before I can get a print out of the darkroom. It is on a roll with my photo assignment, so I to process it and print it at my highschool...

Sure. I was planning to end the contest on Wednesday anyway. You should have through Tuesday night -- if you need a day or two more, just PM me and I'll accept your submission later.

Again, they're supposed to be taken this weekend (though any time during the challenge is all right with me) which is why I cut off the challenge at Tuesday. But if you need a bit more time, no worries!

Sadly the weather here has been lousy so this is my submission - it represents the dullness of suburbia really. I'm trying to think of something deep and philosophical to say about it but I know I'll be talking nonsense.

Yeah, there is some good work here! Only 8 submissions, but that should make my job a bit easier!

My computer's still down, and it looks like it'll be retired permenantly after I try a few last things this summer. Therefore, I don't have the luxury of being able to easily judge at any time.

I'll certainly make a decision by Sunday as I'll be able to go home to use a good computer, but it's not beyond the realm of the possible for me to get done before that.

So I've finally made my decision. First place will go to mamabear4 for "morning traffic."

Second place goes to Piano Player for his second submission of the still lake.

Thanks to everybody who submitted -- don't hesitate to come back! I really wish I had the time (or the expertise) to comment on these submissions, but alas, I'm afraid I've got other things to do.

Congratulations to all the winners - your pictures are great!!!! I would love to have more competitions - am liking them!!! I have only just started taking pictures so having competitions is fun for me!!
