  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Ah! It looks like a blue gray on my computer. Sorry for the misinformation.

It's so pretty!

Oh, no worries :) Thank you!

for those of you that are married, what was your favorite part of wedding planning
AND
what was your favorite part of your wedding?

I haven't really enjoyed much of the wedding planning; it's been stressful and confusing for me lol. But with every item we check off our list, I feel more and more confident. Weddings are more trouble than they're worth, if you ask me lol. Seems like everything is done for other people; the family, the friends, the guests. Sometimes I feel like I'm lost in the shuffle.

What I did enjoy was looking at engagement rings :) And picking a honeymoon cabin! That was definitely exciting.

I'm still planning the reception, so I'm not sure. :p

My favorite part of the wedding was when I realized I needed to get rid of my bouquet to exchange rings; I threw that baby behind our officiant (Dustin's Dad). ahaha.

Wedding planning is stressful! It was one of the most stressful things I've ever done! but that was mostly the pressure I put on myself- I DIY'd a lot of it myself and that along with moving- I felt like i was racing the clock- and I waited until the night before the wedding to pack (I don't recommend that). My husband and I made all the choices ourselves since we were paying for everything. We didn't feel obligated to make anyone else happy other than us; we were considerate, but I so didn't ask for opinions, lol. Looking back, I loved trying on dresses, and making all my stuff for my wedding. I got into crafty zone and it was just fun.

My favorite part of our wedding was the ceremony. Our pastor made such a sweet and meaningful sermon. When I entered the church, my husband started crying and then I started crying (happy tears!) and hubby said "OH BOY!" when he first saw me. When I got to the alter, he whispered "WOW" as he took my hand. Our pastor worked that into the sermon saying our life together was getting off to a very good start; I already had an "oh boy" and a "wow". It was soooooo sweet!

I agree that the wedding planning is so stressful, especially when you have about 2 weeks to plan. We were engaged for a month, but for the first two weeks, I had been planning for a Wisconsin wedding in 3 or 4 months...not the New York wedding we ended up having. My favorite part, though, was listening to a ton of songs on youtube to decide what songs to play. We had a little mix-up with the music at the ceremony, but otherwise it was great listening to some of the music play again while I was nervously waiting for it all to begin.

I have two favorite parts of the wedding. Or one wedding ceremony and one pre-wedding. It was so wonderful having my sister there. I'm so glad that she was able to make it. She really took charge and helped things go much more smoothly than they otherwise would have gone. My favorite part of the wedding ceremony was the pastor's sermon and the vows. It was so unbelievably perfect. I had a hard time understanding why some churches (in Wisconsin) said that the wedding was a church service and not a wedding ceremony for the couple. I mean, I didn't want God left out, but let's not forget why we were there. The pastor did the perfect blend of making it clear that this was a wedding ceremony (and not a Sunday service), yet had tons of good biblical stuff and prayer.

I do, but it was more of a "in case I don't find something I like better" dress, and I would've had to have it altered if I'd decided to wear it. The dress I have now is more beautiful (IMO), more comfortable, more figure-flattering, and about 1/3 the cost :)

Awww I wanna see pics too :bigeye: please?

Awww, that's so kind :) Thank you.

I just found out my friend who was going to put me in a nice dark green (a great color for me) has changed her mind and wants me to wear lime green.

:noooo:

Ugly bridesmaid dress that I can't wear anywhere else...I guess so.

To make matters worse she's putting her MOH in purple and the other bridesmaid in dark blue...
Did I do something to make her hate me?

I gave my bridesmaids a color scheme and let them pick out their own dresses. I felt it was humane and I didn't really care. That way they got what style they liked and I wasn't asking them to spend a lot. I knew they had good taste though and I was pleased with the results.

Yeah, I'm the MOH for that one. Tiffany blue dress is all mine and hanging in my room.

Yes another friend of mine is getting married.
May 5th and we don't have dresses yet.
The bride couldn't settle on a color scheme...
I guess she has and apparently it involves me wearing lime while everyone else is in pretty jewel tones.

I'll wear the color for her because she's my friend...but I'm just trying to figure out what made her come to a decision like that...
I'm going to be like this randomly brightly colored bridesmaid in a sea of blue and purple.

Maybe she is thinking like peacock feathers? IDK...

Another favorite part of our wedding: My parents had "one hand; one heart" from West Side story sung at their wedding. We included it in ours, but didn't tell my parents it was going to be included; so it was a surprise! I loved seeing their faces!

That was sweet of you! I didn't have any attendants so I didn't have to worry about that. :D

IDK either. That doesn't make any sense.

PS My baby sister is getting married that day. I get to wear yellow. :p Please keep in mind that I'm jaundiced. :pink: LOL

See, now that makes sense. Especially since they had to buy it themselves.
It's always nice t o actually like what you're wearing so you look happy and comfortable!

That was so sweet of you to do. :)

It's okay. I know she didn't do it to be hateful. The rest of her bridesmaids look AMAZING in yellow. A lot of them are darker skinned so it looks great. She tried to find a pink for me to wear but they don't carry it in that style. No worries, eyes will all be on her anyhow (as they should be!).
