  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I should add that parents weren't dismissed in the process, though. Puffca talks to his mother on the phone regularly. He told her about me early on, emailed pics, and answered questions that she had about me....which led to her expressing her approval of the relationship. My mother was told early on too and she wished me well. So, it wasn't permission or blessing we were looking for, it was more to just share with them our decision and their blessings were a bonus. And it was just as important that Puffca's mother approved of the relationship, to me, as my own mother's approval.

The morning of my sister's wedding my dad and I were talking and he was telling me how much he was dreading that day. Then he said he was glad that when he walks me down the aisle, he'll be crying out of happiness. That he trusts me to choose better. So I told him I'm not choosing at all, but God is. And he said, "Exactly."

We may not see eye to eye on everything (or lots of things really) beliefs wise...but that nearly made me cry.

He's also told me he already has the father daughter song picked out.

I didn't even realize he thinks about such things. I really hope I actually do get married, since it means something to him ^_^

ohh...now I miss my dad ^_^

My Dad walked me down the aisle. He was about to cry when he first came to get me (not in a bad way), but the person who was supposed to do my makeup that day had not shown up and all the women just put together their makeup for me to use -- so I had on mascara that was not waterproof -- and I was like, DAD, YOU CANNOT CRY OR I WILL CRY AND I WILL HAVE MONSTER EYES!! And fortunately he thought that was funny and neither of us cried. The other thing that I think prevented me from crying was that my strap on my dress came lose as we were going down the aisle and that distracted me.

Also, when the pastor asked who gives this woman to this man, Dad told him "her mother and I do" :)

Well. It's definitely too big. I figured it might be. I ordered according to my measurements, but still suspected I was ordering too big, and sure enough, lol. I think I'll go two sizes smaller, cause I intend to lose some weight before the wedding as well.

So, slightly disappointing, but SO exciting even to try it on!!

Woot for being too big! :D

When ordering smaller, be careful... I know you want to lose weight (and I think you can do it!!!) but two months isn't much time to lose a significant amount of weight in a healthy manner. I would just order it the one size smaller and then you can have it altered down if you do succeed in losing enough weight to warrant it going down another size. That's just my opinion, though, of course and I do not mean it is to be discouraging in anyway so I hope you know that! Love ya!

Oh, I know you'd never be discouraging, Sara :) My concern is that, if I wait to get it altered, and the seamstress screws it up, I'm up a certain creek without a paddle lol. Cause I won't have ANY dress.

I think this weekend, and maybe next, I'll browse some local stores and see if I can find something. I don't want a "bridal gown" per se, but a nice white or ivory, or even pale blue or pink, long gown, would be fine with me. And it would be great to be able to try things on instead of ordering and waiting and wondering if something will fit.

One of the BEST things about Don, is that he doesn't care what I'm wearing at the wedding. He truly doesn't. Talk about no pressure :) It's lovely.

*starts checking out clothing stores nearby*

Trying on was actually kind of fun. :) A lot of spring colors will be on sale soon. Are you set on long?

Mmm, yeah, I have serious cankles LOL. Unfortunate that I can't be a skinny bride, but that's the way the chips fall!

Doesn't help that I live in the middle of Retail Nowhere. Found a really pretty dress at Nordstroms's but the nearest store that carries it is like 2 hours away. Nope.

Is there a closer Nordstroms? Most chain stores will ship things from one store to another for customers. Two stores (for two different wedding things) offered to do that for me.

That's an idea!

I guess I should wait till next weekend to look for dresses, cause this is my "monthly" weekend and I feel anything but slim lol. Sigh.

Still hope to go to the craft store for Josh's ring-bearing box, paints, silk flower petals, candles, and other fun wedding stuff :) Gotta get my wedding fix one way or another!
