  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I have decided to continue wearing my wedding rings. I do a great deal of traveling with my job and just feel more comfortable with the rings on my finger. No sure why, really. I would just rather people assume that I was married.

Of course, what I've been finding these last 2 months is that my opinion and feelings on a subject could change in a matter of 5 minutes.

My job doesn't allow me to wear a ring so for twenty years I have only worn it on special occasions and when I was off for several days in a row. Because of this the ring thing is not a big deal to me. I gave Patsy's ring to our daughter, along with the tons of other jewlry she had, and my ring will someday go to our youngest son who lives here this town. Till then it just occupies space in a drawer by our bed.

I have kept my ring on the keychain. Now and then I touch it or hold it, but it has not been a big deal. At prayer meeting at church last night I did wear it for a while as I was missing Cheryl. But, again, no big deal...I didn't miss a beat while praying because of it, but it was something just to feel close to her for a little while. The ring is back on the keychain now....

It's funny the little things we do to feel that closeness. The kids all came home in August and we went through her coats. Some they took and the others went to Goodwill. I found money stuffed in a lot of the pockets and I put it in a clip on the side of the fridge. I can't bring myself to spend it (other than a couple bucks I borrowed from her one day, which I replaced) simply because her hands were the last ones that had touched it. I go by and touch it now and then and feel closer to her. Yes, grief makes us do some funny things.
On another note... Can someone tell me what the Health and Reputation ratings are all about...??? Tried to find something that would tell me, but no luck.

I understand how you feel. I kept my duaghter's little water floaties for almost 15 years before the air finally went out of them. They had my Danny's breath in them. I just couldn't bear to let that go.

I just took off his wedding bands a couple years ago. Yes, it's been almost 20 years, and yes, I've remarried, but I still wore them on my right hand.

I don't deal well with his death (I never have), and I don't know how you guys do it. I know I'm blessed, but I'd be more blessed if I had my Danny back. He was my first love. My bestfriend. And I don't think I'll ever be able to totally accept the fact that he's gone.

Time doesn't heal everything, but it will make things softer and not quite as painful. Just keep looking at the Lord, He will help you in this time of grieving. God bless you.

The day my husband passed away 15 days ago, I started wearing his wedding ring and our 4th wedding anniversary ring on a chain round my neck. Before my husband passed away from cancer, he had lost so much weight that the rings no longer fitted him. That hurt me so badly...

As for mine, I am still wearing the 2 rings. I hope that I will never have to take them off.

Condolences, my dear. So sorry to hear. My husband's hands were so big his wedding ring fits on my thumb. I wore it that way along w/ my wedding band on my right ring finger the day DD got married six months ago, very comforting. DH has been gone 27 months now.

Prayers for you and all those missing your DH.
