  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Wedding Ring = Cure All?

Why is there this huge assumption that if you get married that all of a sudden the threat of STDs and pregnancy just magically vanish?

That hinges on the idea that you and your partner are faithful and COMPLETELY ignores the fact that there are diseases that can be transmitted sexually but can be contracted via non-sexual means. Also it ignores the fact that you still need SOME kind of contraceptive while married to prevent pregnancy.

A wedding ring is NOT a magical device that will protect you no matter what happens, it isn't a license to be stupid. You still need to protect yourself.

Look, homosexuality is dangerous. Homosexuality is a vile sin. So no matter how many weak arguments you try to come up with (std's, needles of junkies, blah, blah, bluh...) it will not matter. Homosexuality is still a vile sin, and holy matrimony is still the standard for our country and children.

Getting married and staying pure and keeping away from vile sins like adultery and homosexuality; is beautiful and awesome!!!

Please stop trying to scare our youth away from holy matrimony.

*Note to all Americans: Stay pure until you get married. Then get married in the sight of God and stay pure and holy in those bonds of marriage.

This will help prevent sin and disease! :preach:

Out of curiosity, does this only apply to Americans, or should the rest of us abide by that as well?

SOF, were you and your wife virgins (lacking in all activities that could have resulted in STD's) when you married?

Is anyone, really? The only time I find that people stay virgins until marriage is when two people get married way too young or the girl has such insanely over protective parents that she isn't even allowed to go to college.

Wedding Ring = Cure All?

Wedding rings are not cure alls. Getting married introduces many challenges not found in living single. Unaddressed relationship issues tend to balloon instead shrink after getting married.

There is no guarantee that one or both parties will refrain from seeking extramarital sex.

i read a review i think for a movie about the hardships of a family after members contracted AIDS from a blood transfusion and the treatment they received from their christian community.

the people around them ostracized them and treated them like lepers
it goes to show you that stis have nothing to do with sex, they just happen to be contracted mostly FROM sex, but its not a requirement

i'm just glad no STI have become airborne or we would be in trouble:(

while I'm inclined to agree, I don't think stupidity in itself, necesarily deserves to be a capital offence... although sometime in my darker moments...

sad to say, some still are genuinely ignorant... a younger colleague of mine utterly stunned me the other day by claiming you could only get AIDS "if you use needles and ****"
