  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I am just wondering about how much did you pay the priest or minister or justice of the peace to do your wedding ceremony? MY brother and his fiancee are getting married in May and asked me this questions. I know personally that my priest didn't have a "fee", but we gave him what we could afford for doing ours. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Ours offered to do it for free (he was our children's minister whom we love dearly) but we paid him $100 as a gift. I think my brother and SIL paid the same to the JP they had do their ceremony - not in the court but at an park we love.

I did not pay my pastor anything. He did everything for free - counseling and the ceremony.

But we ended up donating a Bose wave radio CD to the church valued at about $500. We knew that they really wanted one, and had access to a discount program with Bose. He was stoked when we gave it to him!

I have a joke - well I am not married so I can only tell jokes!!!! And it ain't got much revealance but I thought it was funny. Here goes:

The wedding day was fast approaching. Everything was ready, and nothing could dampen Jennifer's excitement, not even her parents' nasty divorce.
Her mother Carol finally found the PERFECT dress to wear and would be the best dressed mother of the bride EVER!
A week later, Jennifer was horrified to learn her new young stepmother had purchased the same dress.
She asked Barbie, her stepmother, to exchange the dress, but Barbie refused, "Absolutely not! I'm going to wear this dress; I'll look like a million bucks in it!"
Jennifer told her mother, who graciously replied, "Never mind, dear, after all it's your special day, not hers."
Two weeks later, another dress was finally found for Jennifer's mom. When they stopped for lunch, Jennifer asked her mother, "What are you going to do with the first dress? You don't have any place to wear it."
Carol grinned and replied, "Of course, I do, dear! I'm wearing it to the rehearsal dinner!"

When my hubby and I got married our church only had an interium pastor and I hardly knew him. So we paid the church $250 for the use of the church, plus an additional $100 to the pastor that was basically retired, but would do special events such as this for those he had known for a long time, which applied to us.
