HI EVERYONE:wave:

I'M JUST BEGINNING TO GET MY FEET WET, WELL JUST GOT A BIG TOE IN THE WATER, HAHA!!!!! IN WEB DESIGNING. I'M HOPING TO EVENTUALLY GET A WEBSITE OF MY OWN UP AND RUNNING. IS IT REAL COMPLICATED??????
I THOUGHT ABOUT TAKING SOME CLASSES AT OUR TECHNICAL COLLEGE. YA KNOW WEB DESIGN, HTML, ETC. WOULD THAT BE A WASTE OF TIME. I'D LIKE SOME INPUT FROM ANYONE WHO ALREADY IS AN EXPERT ON ALL THIS STUFF, WHICH IS REALLY FOREIGN TO ME.
PEACE, ASHLYN

I second the "learn at your PC" recommendation. Unless you have already given the various online resources a go (with no luck) -- then you more than likely will get much better results if you learn at your own pace. Through taking a class, you run the risk of either not being able to keep up with your classmates -- or else being bored to tears for 90% of the time.

Ideally, the best way to learn webdesign is by going through a few beginner HTML tutes, and then learning to 'view source' on pages whose design you like. Keep an eye out for design, and if you see something that catches your eye, figure out how it was done -- at least roughly. Also, find a forum or community of some sort where you can have a virtual sounding board for ideas, problems, etc. Everyone goes through a learning process and makes mistakes, it helps to have others around to ask a question or five.

I learned online probably six years ago, so the resources I used are for the most part not around anymore -- one that is, though, is htmlgoodies.com: the 'getting started' section is great for first-timers. PM me if you need more resources or help -- I'd be glad to lend a hand!

It depends. If you just want to simply design your own site, then by all means- online is the way to go. If you are looking into web design as a career, then I recommend professional training, as most well paying jobs require education (a bachelors degree or +++) and/or experience. Good luck.
