  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hmm. I love Chrono Trigger, but these kind of sites ("ooh, look at the allegories") always have annoyed me for some reason. It's like people want to elevate their fan squealings to the status of Scriptural connections, and as in the case of other tormented allegories *coughcoughthetrigunallegoriescoughcough* while some parts fit, others do not to the point of absurdity and total incongruity.

I'd advise serious caution. :)

This is interesting. You probably remember I did this with the Legend of Zelda series: http://www.christianforums.com/showthread.php?p=2142571&postcount=18

The games that felt the most Christian to me when I played them were the first two games in the Myst series (Myst and Riven) and The Longest Journey. It's hardly surprising that there would be a lot of Christian symbolism in the Myst games, since the creators of the series (Rand and Robyn Miller) are both Christians. The Longest Journey is a bit more enigmatic: Its lead designer is a Norweigan man named Ragnar Tornquist who's much more secretive than the Miller brothers, so it's hard to tell what he believes. On the basis of his game it seems likely that he is also a Christian, but he doesn't openly admit it the way the Miller brothers do.
