Sometimes I feel like that, too. The battle can be intense....and then I curl up with my Bible and read until my heart finds peace again.

I'm sooooo sorry. I'm not a soldier, never have been, but our warriors are deserving of our utmost respect and the honor due them, each one of them. You are, sir, a brave, gallant soul....risking everything to fight...not knowing if you would live through it....

You are a hero. Don't ever forget that. I think of this line from the movie "Elizabeth":

"Never forget who you are."

Never, sir, forget who you are....a hero, a warrior, a gallant soul, worthy of honor and respect...and embraced by God Himself.

I've had that feeling. And I often think it's because the soldier has changed. Home has not.
Ever notice how most combat vets only share their stories with each other? The real stories?

I don't know what your no-man's-land is; but chances are someday you'll find another person who's been there. Your experience, much as you wish you'd never had it, may be the only real help there is.

Thanks to everyone for the responses.

I don't know if I've changed or not, or how to even go about deciding. There always seems to be this inner struggle--between a straight-laced person who tries to do everything "right", and a messy person who argues with "right". I've been messy for too long--starting to notice how selfish I have been.

I tend to go overboard..kinda the gun-ho type..and it's frustrating trying to sort through everything--trying to figure out what I should & shouldn't do. Sometimes I just don't seem to care..sometimes I can justify my actions..sometimes I can't. I used to have a strong support group..but for various reasons the support is no longer there.

People change, God does not..but if I've relied so heavily on people in the past..how do I begin to rely on this intangible, unbelievable, audacious idea we call God?

Here is something I put in my blog today. I hope it helps you, JA.

Remember that God loves you. He loves you with a tender, caring love that loves you just the way you are, messes and all. He doesn't stand there and say, "no you didn't do that right", or "there you go messing up again." He simply loves you.

The Bible says that love covers a multitude of sins. God's love is like that. He covers our sins. The moment we ask Him to forgive us, He forgives us. 1 John 1:9 says "If we confess our sins He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." "All" means ALL. When you ask for forgivenss, He doesn't say, that wasn't good enough, or you didn't repent long enough. He just forgives.

His love reaches out to us to accept or not. Here is the miracle--then in that love He begins changing us. He corrects us--no, not with chiding and denigration or by tearing us down. It's more that He draws us to Him, and in that love enables us to change. The more we know Him, the more we walk in Him, the more He enables us to change.

Proverbs 6:23 says, "Reproofs of instruction are the way of life." When God gives us His correction it is to draw us into the way of life, and to help us stay there. His purpose is always with love, to help us, to enable us to become the men and women of God He wants us to be.

So you cry out to Him, and ask Him to change you, because you love Him--just that. And you love Him, because you experience His love. The closer you get to Him, the more you are touched by His amazing love.

In all my life, even in my worst messes, this is what I've found, God is for us. He wants us to succeed. He wants us to walk in holiness and goodness and truth and power. We are His sons and His daughters. He lifts us up, and makes us beautiful. He exalts us when we are nothing at all. He is so kind to us.

"Understanding God's Motives For Us Through Faith."​

By praying for understanding and through reading and studying the Bible daily, we can learn a lot about the nature of God and His intentions for us as His children. It is written in Joshua 6:1-5, that God told the children of Israel to march around the city of Jericho's walls seven times on the seventh day. They did as God instructed and the walls fell down. While this story may seem illogical, we may all have some type of spiritual, mental or physical walls in our own lives that need to be torn down. But by PRAYING, FASTING, and STUDYING the word and by understanding God's motives through faith, anything can be achieved.
God will never allow us to go through anything unprepared. As written in Mark 6:7, "And he called unto him the twelve, and began to send them forth two by two; and gave them POWER over unclean spirits..." We can now move forward and complete the tasks of our calling with confidence and understanding through the spiritual weaponry God has provided. Even when the disciples were commanded not to take anything for their journey, as written in Mark 6:8, no wallet, money or food. Just a staff.
At this point, there was no question as to how God was going to provide for them. FAITH and as the scriptures teach us in Mark 6:10, "And he said unto them, In what place soever ye enter into an house, there abide till ye depart from that place." This was all they needed to know. God's motives for them were clear as to what they were to do and they did it! God takes care of the rest. God will make it known to you. As written in Mark 6:12-13, "And they went out, and preached that men should repent. And they cast out many devils, and anointed with oil many that were sick, and healed them."
Our faith in God will allow us to understand His motives for our lives. If we but only seek the kingdom of God first as instructed, the motives will become clear. It is written in Luke 10:19-20, "Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over ALL THE POWER OF THE ENEMY: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are SUBJECT unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven." Now ponder briefly on these two extemely important verses.
These two verses clearly state that nothing, absolutely nothing can stand between us, God and the kingdom of heaven. God's motives for our lives is not a mystery because it is already written. God's Holy Spirit is here to teach us. Jesus speaks in Luke 10:21, "In that hour Jesus rejoiced in spirit, and said, I thank thee O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes; even so, Father; for so it seemed good in thy sight."
