I wear a cross that has a heart around it. I also had a necklace that was nails made into the shape of a cross. It was really cool. but it got ripped off me when I was playing football with the teens and couldn't find it.

I do have a simple, gold cross necklace that I wear occasionally. Not the often, but occasionally. I like wearing it, but for some bizarre reason, it always made me feel like I look catholic or something. Lol. I mean nothing by that, I'm just saying. :)

The purity ring thread made me think of people who wear crosses or carry a tiny one around. Something I've never done.

Just wondering...

Do you wear a cross or carry a tiny one with you?

I can't stand jewellery worn or carried for religious reasons, so no. Virtue and faith are not fashion accessories.

For just a look or an aesthetic, that's fine but I don't care about it myself.

That pretty much sums up my view of it. There are some crosses out there that are like, 14k white gold and cost $350+, even if you had one of those, it doesn't make you Christian it just means you're rich.

Personally I don't wear a cross. I myself think that it is somewhat materialistic. I also learned something about the cross symbol in my studies (time period before Jesus) which I don't agree with. So that is partly why. I know that he died on the cross shedding His blood for our sins, but I think that it kind of gets off the point when we remember his death, when the main point was that He rose again conquering death. :)

I think both are the main point. It's like if you only have half a baptism: it's not much good if you only get submerged and don't come up again lol. Or the other way around.

I have a rosary which generally comes with me on my travels. Sometimes it even gets put around my neck because that's one of the most reliable ways to make sure it doesn't get lost in transit. As others have mentioned though it isn't jewelry, it's never on show even when around my neck and it is less to do with faith and more tradition.

I think everyone has their own ideas of what wearing a cross represents. For me, it doesn't represent my faith for the world. Maybe at first, I thought that. I even bought this big silver gaudy cross. I liked it, but it was too much. Now then, it seemed like I wanted everyone to know 'HEY! I'm a Christian!' Needless to say, I don't wear that necklace anymore. But the small ruby one that my mom gave me on my birthday, I wear it now for my own conscious. I wear it so I can remind myself when I want to do something wrong, I think about who I live for...Or, if I just need to know God is with me. Kind of a self relationship thing with the cross for me as a representative....

I have two necklaces that I wear and both of them have crosses on them but both have a symbol of where I've been and the events. One of the necklace I have has my confirmation saint medal on it which then I added a Franciscan cross to it when I went on a Pilgramiage with my high school to Italy. The other one is a wooden cross which was given to all the Kairos participants which for me resembles the friendships I made on that retreat. Both necklaces I wear everyday.
