  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Her name is Sammy she is a 4 year old (I think) Tabby. We think she is pretty, I will post a picture when I am able to. Anyway we saved her, she was abandoned in our downtown circle, her owners were put into prison on federal drug charges. We fed her for awhile since I was working in town and finnally I decided to take her home. When I got her home my daughter noticed a wound on her side, she had been stabbed no doubt, I nursed her back to health, since we had no money for a vet to take care of her. She was completly healed within a week or so, and has been the very best pet ever.
DOes anyone have a cat that kneeds your tummy or leg like it is dough? I heard it was a sign of contentment, but also it could also be either the cat was weened too early or thinks of you as it mother figure. What do you think?

Most of them do what I call “mashing potatoes”! I think it has to do with what kittens do when they were nursing, and they continue the behavior. They “head butt” for the same reason, and it’s also a ‘greeting’. Have you ever put your face to hers, like bowing your head? She should touch heads with you. It’s so funny!

You are so wonderful for taking her in and giving her such wonderful attention, and healing. I’m glad she is well and happy. I hope she completely forgets the past and learns that she is totally safe in your care.

Thank you for your reply. Yes she does do that head butting thing, she also likes it when we nibble on her ears, sounds weird and alittle gross but she kind of smiles. Also, she sleeps on my pillo at night so I get only the bottom corner. Then she turns in a circle a few times, lays down presses the top of her little head into the top of mine and then rests her front "arm" and "Hand" on my cheek or head like she is holding me...I love that. She likes it when we talk to her and give her love, she is totally like a little person.

our cat, a 4 year old Siberian forest cat, milk treads. she likes to knead my hair and purrs contentedly while doing so. this was something they did as a kitten, telling their mommy that they wanted milk. i read in many sources and believe this to be true, that they will do this when they are hungry, happy, and/or feel content around u and consider u their mother figure. our other cat who is an 18 year old male tabby still does it to show affection. its just about the most adorable thing ever i think

These are my 2 kitties!!! The Orange one is McGonagall Aka: Momma. According to the vet, it is very rare to have an orange female Tabby! The Calico kitty is Fluffy, McGonagall's baby. Fluffy is about 7 months old and we can't quite determine if it's a boy or a girl. (Sounds weird I know! lol) But it looks like both...lol

Your kitty you took in is very cute. I have a kitty that kneads on my stomach also, he is addicted to my toes, and only mine;) , no one else in the house gets that much attention to toes.
Ashely you are correct in that female orange tabby's are rare, I have been in Veterinary medicine for 22yrs. and have only seen a handfull if them.
I like to call the action of pawing "kneading bread" I think its cute and it does stem from nursing their mom.

Both of your cats are just beautiful. The calico kitten has such a lovely face, and you can rest assured that it's a girl. There are no boy calico cats - just a fun bit of animal trivia.
