  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

We choose

It is no small thing to live in hope,
to love when tired,
to be patient in stress,
to pray when feeling empty,
to have faith when life seems absurd,
or suffering deepens.
To trust when fear is present,
to say 'Yes' to it all.
We choose,
the deeper we dig,
the more we seek to walk the straight path
the freer we are, even when we fail,
we simply get up and continue--Br.MD

This poem is very nice for me to read at this point.

One satuarday I listened to a song I was reminded of before going to bed, which I also downloaded before going to sleep.

And the next morning when listening to it whilst doing the newspapers rounds, it gave me such a great joy boost! Later on when listening again to it whilst reading the lyrics as well, I told God I didn't wanted it to stop what I am going through. As I want to keep on going through everything He wants me to be going through. It may be strange for many, but at this point I was rejoicing in the difficulties given to me.

I still have my days which it feels harder for me, yet I keep my hope up, also reminding myself that my feelings may change at times, yet it doesn't change the truth, nor does it change the hope which I have in Christ.

God will get me through anything! I just need to keep my gaze on Jesus Christ, and to not let my feelings bring me down. As well as holding on to His promises!

... It may be strange for many, but at this point I was rejoicing in the difficulties given to me...
Not strange at all.

Quote from a very old spiritual treatise:

...And I looked again and saw men lying in bed who were then and there comforted by the power of God or by a sense of compunction, and by this comfort they warded off the pain and reached such a frame of mind in which they never wanted to get rid of their sickness. And again I turned and saw those suffering severely who by illness were delivered from the passions of their soul as if by some penance; and I glorified Him who cleansed clay by clay.

That's a very special quote. Thank you for sharing. Also very encouraging. :) May I ask who it is who wrote this quote part?

I have read an Christian article where it wrote about Christians who sees their sufferings as good, they see that it was needed for them. As well as talking about how it glorifies God when we go through sufferings, and that what we see as good isn't what God sees as good for us.

Well said, and true. In this life, every one of us goes through hard times. Our faith allows us to unite ourselves to Jesus Christ, giving us endurance and joy. Thank you so very much for sharing this.

Peace

You are welcome, Glory to God! It was Saint John Climacus abbot of this monastery sometime during the ~7th century.

All very true (2 Corinthians 12:9).

Just letting you know I also wanted to agree with this what you wrote in here.

I couldn't put on both of the "Like" and "Agree" button.

Thanks for the information sources as well as the bible verse. I have added the information into my favourites and will read these later. :)

There were many wise forefathers, who we can still learn much from and still are of a great inspiration for us!
