What- the woman with five husbands? Yep. This is a genius comparison from the author of my 'Memento Mori' lent devotional.
It's not just other people we try and root our identity in- we do it with hobbies, politics, etc- our idols are our numerous spouses we try to find happiness in like the woman.
We must remember- no-one but God can quench our thirst because no-one but our Triune God created us.
No-one but God sustains us in life and in our death it will be God who leads us into eternity. By the way, if you are not trusting in Christ's (God the Son's) shed blood on the cross alone for your salvation, when you stand before Christ's throne on judgement day, you will hear the most terrifying words related to your eternity: "Depart".
Please, drink the living water of Christ that satisfies and may we, as Christians, continue growing in this knowledge. By the way, even all of eternity will not be enough to even scratch the surface of how glorious this living water is!
