CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I didn't watch it, but over on a Reality TV bashing board I frequent (and these are some mean folks) they were about split between sympathy (no one should be made a fool of just for having a dream) and spite (if you stink at singing and you go on a contest like this, you deserve to be made fun of).
Most of them said they felt dirty after watching it, but that they would again.

Omgosh, I watched this show.. and I felt SO BAD for the contestants! I was like, ohhh my gosh, that is soooooooo mean. I think that it's really hateful.. I mean how can it not be. It's like one big high school bully prank. It's really childish and just really ill and really mean. I feel bad for the good singers and the ones who weren't so good.

Yah I watch it. It is funny, but it's also kinda mean, to both the bad singers AND the good ones! They should have at least not told the good singers they were bad...many of them were really good and have probably worked hard to be even better at what they do. Also, the ones who can't sing are going to scarred for life! Or maybe they'll get famous for being so bad...who knows with the way Hollywood is today!

It was quite funny but I felt bad for the contestants. At least the girl who won wasn't upset. It didn't seem like she really got it anyway.
