  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Okay, so we all know we're suppose to drink 8-9 glasses a day. Do we, and why not? I find it very difficult to even drink 2 glasses a day, i'm just not a water person. Although i know its good for me, but somehow i can't do it. Anyone else in here like that? If they're some of you who do take there daily intake, well... did you see or feel any difference?

I thought, perhaps if i knew all the benifits from water, that may motivate me a bit.

Can someone tell me all the benifits from drinking a lot of water a day? and how to drink water during the day if your not a water person?

Please and Thank you.

I'm not much of a water person either but I drink a lot of tea. I don't really know if that counts as water. I also consume a lot of fruits/veggies. I could never drink 8-10 glasses of PLAIN water a day.

I know that one of the major benefits is that it keeps you hydrated.

I'm a big tea person too. I usually have 3-4 cups a day, atleast! somtimes i have more. That can count as 'some' water, can't it? lols.

Water definatley keeps you hydrated. I heard that your skin can wrinkle faster in your older years if you were always dehydrated if you were younger.. true or false?

I sip about a gallon of water throughout the day. The taste isn't great, but it's a nice way to cure being anxious, so it's become habitual. That being said, if you have too much trouble with it, buy some Xtend and put in in a gallon of water and you'll have no problem drinking it.

I know for me I dont get any headaches if I have enough water in me on a consitant basis, I sweat less and feel better. But drinking 8-9 glasses is also a challenge. I carry a nalgene bottle full everywhere I go and tell myself I have to get it gone beroe having somethng I prefer like juice.... I also have been known to flavor my water with mint or something. I usually buy water in town as the water from my tap taste to chlorinie and I cant get it down.

I have found the more I drink water the more I crave it...but start slow, drink 2 glasses them add a glass each week....I jumped right into drinking 2 nalgene bottle a day and got to wear I wanted to vomit just looking at the stuff!

I still go through bouts where I dont want any, like the past week I was working outside and very thirsty and downed 12 glasses a day....this weekend I haven wanted any and have convenieintly forgotten since Friday

Water? What is water??:D

I have to honsetly say I would be lucky if I had a half of a cup of water in a week. I am so bad about drinking water. Due to some health problems latley I have increased my water and been doing better, like maybe 2 16oz bottles a day or so. That is a huge improvment for me. Maybe this will help:

Why We Need to Drink Water

Our bodies are estimated to be about 60 to 70% water. Blood is mostly water, and our muscles, lungs, and brain all contain a lot of water. We need to drink water because water is needed to regulate body temperature and to provide the means for nutrients to travel to all our organs. Water also transports oxygen to our cells, removes waste, and protects our joints and organs.

This helps me a lot, thank you so much! I will start slow, and see what happens from there. I remember that couple of months ago, i tried to fit 8 glasses a day, and i did it, but the next day i wanted to vomit at the site of water. Why didn't i think of starting slow? I don't know. Furthermore, i really don't like that tap water taste, or filtered taste. So i recently started to flavor my water with a slice of lemon.

Your old habbit sounds just like me. It's great to know that when you increased your intake, you felt that you improved.

Plus, thanks for the facts!

how much water you drink depends on the person.....take you for instance....u say u have trouble drinkin 2 glasses a day...perhaps your body doesnt need anymore...it all depends on how much of it you lose throughout the day by sweating etc...also the type of eating habits u have will effect how much water your body needs....if u eat foods that have lots of water and fluids in them..then u are getting it that way too. True signs of needing to drink more water are if u feel drowsy for no good reason, start getting headaches, or find yourself dizzy, etc...

I thought the same, and it may be. I searched and tried to find it but that was the only one I could come up with. You are right either way it is a lot, and is important.

I started off driking 2 glasses a day, which was really hard for me, really. And now, i am trying to do 3 glasses a day.

I realized that drinking water has helped me in many ways. I don't get dizzy easily anymore or feel as lazy. I didn't know these problems had anything to do with not drinking water, now i know.

Thanks guys, for all your advice! :)

I drink on average a gallon of water a day, I used to hardly drink water at all, just sodas. But not that I do drink a lot of water, I've noticed, I don't break out, acne used to be a problem, I don't get hot all the time, I can actually sit outside in 100 degree heat and not die, I have more energy, and (i know this is gross) my pee is no longer neon yellow. There are so many benefits of water, also it decreases your chance of a kidney stone, that alone is worth making yourself drink water.

The pee thing is not gross, infact many people need to know what the different colors of our pee means. Dark pee means you're dehydrated, and clear pee pee means your not, lols.

A gallon of water a day is pretty amazing, i just started with drinking some water recently, lols. Thanks to all the interesting inputs and advice you guys gave me on this thread.

You're input helps me as well. I didn't know water can benefit from reducing your chances of getting a kidney stone.

I'll keep drinking, water.

A large percentage of Americans are chronically dehydrated.
So much so in fact, they usually can't distinguish between the faint feeling of thirst vs. the feeling of hunger.

Interesting, eh?

I try to put down a gallon. Sometimes I get it, a lot of times I don't.

Thanks to all of the input on this thread, i have gotten up to two full glasses a day! That's a big improvment for me from drinking 4 sips in 2 days, really.

Water helps to lose weight? I remember my health teacher saying that to the class. I also learned that somtimes when we feel hungry, it's just that we're really thristy.

Water's great! As many have already said, there're a lot of benefits to drinking water. There's more research all the time to confirm this, & experts are also letting us know that tea & some other drinks are great replacements for water if you just can't get in the amount you need.

6 to 8 glasses is an average since each person's body is different & different sizes. Different sizes mean different amounts needed, just like the amount of food each person needs. A larger person would naturally need more food than a smaller person, & so wouldn't it be reasonable to say the same for the beverage intake? That's how I see it, anyway. :)

Where I am here up North, I find that I need more water since it's a much drier climate than in B. C.'s Fraser Valley, but I don't let that stop me from drinking plenty when I'm back in B. C. :)
