My subject is the dishonesty of the Watchtower Society. The Watchtower has a special policy towards outsiders. Those who question the Watchtower teachings are considered "opposers" and are treated in a special way.

( QUALIFIED TO BE MINISTERS (1967 edition), p. 197. ) The Society actually teaches Jehovah's Witnesses to cover-up or lie about certain facts. They call this tactic -- Theocratic War Strategy. The Watchtower instructs Jehovah's Witnesses that, "As a soldier of Christ he is in theocratic warfare and he must exercise added caution when dealing with God's foes. Thus the Scriptures show that for the purpose of protecting the interest of God's cause, it is proper to hide the truth from God's enemies." ( WATCHTOWER, June 1, 1960, p. 352.)

When curious people examine the! Watchtower's history, they find numerous facts that the present day Society tries to cover up. For instance, Watchtower leaders are very embarrassed that the Society's, founder, Charles Russell, was nearly worshipped by Watchtower followers for many years. Since the Watchtower believes that Russell taught many false doctrines, they go to extremes to cover-up his history.

They deny that the Watchtower ever wrote, a biography of Russell's life. In the Watchtower book, JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES IN THE DIVINE PURPOSE, page 63 we quote this question, "...is it true you have never published a biography of Pastor Russell?" The answer - they say, "That's right. Jehovah's Witnesses admire the qualities he possessed as a man, but were we to give the honor and credit to Pastor Russell, we would be saying that the works and success were his ..." This is a good example of the Watchtower's own use of Theocratic War Strategy on Jehovah's Witnesses; because when we check the record we find that the Watchtower did publish the Biography of Pastor Russell in five successive years, 1923 through 1927 . (STUDIES IN THE SCRIPTURES, Series 1, THE DIVINE PLAN OF THE AGES, (1923, 1924, 1925, 1926, and 1927 editions) pp.1 to 30).

Thus I find the Watchtower practicing its belief that it is proper to deceive people. But, they say this really isn't lying. Did you know that the Watchtower has a different definition of "lying" than most of us? In their book, AID TO BIBLE UNDERSTANDING, under the word "Lie", I read, "Lying generally involves saying something false to a person who is entitled to know the truth....- (
AID TO BIBLE UNDERSTANDING1971, p. 1060.)

Of course, it is the Watchtower leaders that decide who deserves to know the truths Do you deserve to know the truth?

every religion, including Christianity, has it's skeletons in the closet.

Bishop Eusebius, who presided over the Council of Nicea, , entitles the 32nd Chapter of his 12th Book of Evangelical Preparation:

"How it may be Lawful and Fitting to use Falsehood as a Medicine, and for the Benefit of those who Want to be Deceived."

But Christians don't like to talk about this either.

JW's also have their skeletons of deceit. It's in the nature of "religion".

I don't know if this qualify as a real lie, but when I spend to much money with the cart girls at the golf course, i just tell my wife I lost it in a bet. She knows how bad I play golf so she doesn't question it.

well I believe the watchtower is wrong but lieing for certain purposes is not wrong. lieing to nazis hunting for jews in ww2 is not wrong. lieing to someone trying to kill your children is not wrong, lieing to a crazed lunatic to calm him down is not wrong. etc. Even god engaged in deception with the enemies of Israel.

2 Samuel 5:24 And it shall be, when thou hearest the sound of marching in the tops of the mulberry-trees, that then thou shalt bestir thyself; for then is Jehovah gone out before thee to smite the host of the Philistines.,.

Rahab the harlot lied to the King, and God blessed her for it.

Joshua 2:3-5 And the king of Jericho sent unto Rahab, saying, Bring forth the men that are come to thee, that are entered into thy house; for they are come to search out all the land. And the woman took the two men, and hid them; and she said, Yea, the men came unto me, but I knew not whence they were: and it came to pass about the time of the shutting of the gate, when it was dark, that the men went out; whither the men went I know not: pursue after them quickly; for ye will overtake them.

She even made up an elaborate lie.

Bishop Eusebius of Caesarea(c. 260 - c. 340) was the first Christian writer to compose a large "History of the Church," covering the entire period from the first Apostles down to his own day in ten volumes. This "Ecclesiastical History" is our principal source for the history of the early Church. It includes many summaries, short excerpts, and longer quotations from the writings of previous Christian leaders and authors, whose works have not survived independently. Although the exact meanings of some of these passages are difficult to determine and are highly disputed among scholars, they are usually our earliest sources for the opinions of the first few generations of Christians.

Good OP.

It's good to see this stuff questioned and exposed for what it is. A good reason to know the Bible and the God of the Bible well.
Yeah, we deserve to know the truth, thanks.

I'm just passing by.

I'll remind you all that if you want to epxose another's weakness, you can not expect to be believed to the core without coming straight with your own weaknesses. For so long people have been trying to prove others wrong by engaging in exposure of the faults of another person's beliefs. If you do not do this with care and without being prepared to admit your own weaknesses, you will gain no ground, but may be in danger of hardening the recipient's attitude.

As if I am the one to be talking.

What time period would this suggest since it would be after John's passing but still while those he was writing to remained, this would seem to be pointing to the first century congregations from which the ECF came would it not?

That's actually a misrendering of what Eusebius said. Eusebius was advocating the use of fictional works (e.g. parables and similar narratives) rather than deceptions. See this article for details.
