  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Loved the book, and the movie was almost as good. I'm going to see it again and can't wait for the dvd to come out which will have more footage of scenes they had to leave out. So many great lines, but my fav is from Rorschach. "I realized, God wasn't the one who made the filthy world we live in.... people did." Or something to that extent. One of the best movies I have ever seen.

Saw this twice... first time I enjoyed it, but wasn't sure how a second viewing would treat it. Second time I loved it. I have not (yet) read the novel, so the first viewing was kind of confusing... but nothing that I didn't get sorted out by the end.

For me what makes the movie is how textured and realistic the characters feel compared with other "superhero" movies.

Oh, that's right, and you do NOT put Hallelujah on for that last sex scene!

HUGELY inappropriate song
why?

I loved watchmen.
It stuck to comic really well.
It was long and they didn't even get the entire comic in.
The effort was a success though.

Although the intimate scenes were drawn out compared to the book.
And Manhattan's anatomy was complimented on a bit much.
The comic had it more subtle, while the movie made it like "in your face".

Overall I liked it.
I liked the subtle irony with the costumes. They beefed them up, making fun of batman and other super hero movies.
At least that's what the director said he intended.

HUGELY inappropriate song, though that didn't stop me from lol'ing at the flamethrower.

I liked the version of the song they used.
It was supposed to be ironic.

I have to agree it was way too long.
They gave it a whole scene while the book only hints that they do something.

And the first time she presses the flamethrower button, in the comic, Spektra says "I was looking for the ash tray". And the guy says the Comedian did the same thing.

From someone who has read the graphic novel, I thought it was pretty good. I'm looking forward to the DVD release.

Everyone in the theater, myself included, started laughing when the song started playing for the sex scene. It just made the thing more hilarious than it should have been. My drink almost came out my nose when the fire shot out out of Archie.

I had a pretty good audience the first time seeing it. No kids. No annoying teens. Mostly people who've read the comic, from the looks of it. For the price IMAX tickets cost, I'm glad I got a good movie experience.
