No, Tolkien was not onto something. Middle Earth does not exist, there is no evidence to support the existence of trolls, orcs, elves, or tree people, and it is unlikely that these fellows lived in holes in the ground.

And yeah, we've seen this news here before. Islands can do cool things to species.

As for my thoughts? It, like every other piece of modern-day scientific evidence, is another nail in the coffin of creationism.

I'd say that that certain threads on this forum provide fairly solid evidence for the existence of the first one.
