I've been thinking about this, as it was presented to me the other day.

Was Christ truly perfect? Or was he just sinless?

The reason I ask was, we all know that Christ was without sin. But does his weakness toward the end of his life, meaning by asking God to "take away this cup, for I do not want to taste it's poison" make him imperfect? (I'm not quoting here, I don't have a bible right infront of me. Forgive me for any inaccuracies)

Would someone care to discuss this?

I agree that being sinless makes you perfect, so yes Jesus was perfect. He knew what kind of horrible treatment He was about to endure and it troubled Him as it would anyone. His request to God was not doubtful or defiant in any way, especially since He closed saying something to the effect of "not my will, but Yours be done". Actually think of it this way--the fact that He knew what was coming and it troubled Him makes His death on the cross even more of a sacrifice! Imagine what that night in the garden must have been like. Hour after hour passed and He had plenty of opportunity to back out, but He didn't. God wouldn't have accepted a less than perfect sacrifice for our sins.

Actually, if he wasn't perfect he wouldn't have died for anyones sins and he himself would go to hell unless another messiah came along

I don't concur... are you saying that all the people in old testament, regardless of whether they have good discipline and faith in God, will go to hell since they died before the messiah came?

Even ***IF*** Jesus is not perfect, He still is not neccesarily ended up in hell after the earthly death.

i remember jesus saying he did not want to die, but that he wanted Gods will to be done. he did not want to die or face the torture that awaited him, i mean who would? but the fact that he put aside his human instinct of self preservation for the sake of God's will shows that he was perfect. but at the very end he did take all the sins of the world upon him and God could not look at him. so i guess that could count.
