Was I being trolled by a false believer?

I had this conversation few weeks ago with an acquaintance who said they were a believer as you can see. However I’ve since learned that they consider themselves a catholic and doesn’t really practice his faith. I feel like I was trolled. What do you think?

It's hard to tell just from this short exchange. If they were raised by (lapsed?) Catholic parents, I'm surprised that they weren't already baptized, in infancy.

Someone I ran into online. They say were raised atheist. I don’t know. I hope I’m wrong.

I'm not seeing anything to indicate they were trolling.

Though a part of me is surprised that, since they were raised atheist and now identify as Catholic that they haven't gone through or aren't right now in the process of going through RCIA. It raises questions, but there doesn't appear to be anything malicious going on.

Even if someone is a troll, you have an opportunity to reach the person, for Jesus.

So, have hope for the person, and give the person what is good.
