[QUOTE="joshua 1 9, post: 72099077, member: 376633"] Yes there is evidence for slow gradual change over long periods of time. None of that changes the fact that Adam was a real person that lived in a real Garden in Eden around 6,000 years ago. It could have taken God millions or even billions of years to create Adam. In the Bible we have a point in time when God said what He was going to do and we have a point in time when God looked to see what HE had done. This is when the tree is mature and produces fruit. I personally am a dispensationalist. Because that gives us the point in time when the Church first appears on the day of Pentecost when Peter was preaching in the Upper room in 29 AD. We know that this age or era began around 12,980 years ago. In fact we have a nano-diamond comet to mark the beginning of the age or era that we live in. Just like Neil Degrasse talks about a comet that will mark the end of this age or era that we live in. I am not saying the comets caused anything. They are just a marker. So for me a day in Genesis is 1,000 years. Also I understand the GAP theory and I have no problem with Gerald Schroeder understanding of OEC as his hypotheses is very interesting. For him each day is half as long as the day before and this is what is needed for OEC to work with the Bible. I have no problem with YEC if you want to say everything began 6,000 years ago. Because YEC says nothing about what God was doing or what happened before that point in time.
