• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

God created you to be His child. that is your purpose.
God wanted children.... in the bible we are called THE FIRST FRUITS OF HIS CREATION.

heaven is in the presence of God. our sin made us have to leave heaven.

God sent Jesus to help us understand what our life was all about. Jesus came to show us that our will is not good for us. Jesus took our sins away.

now we have a choice. to live on our own or ask for healling from our troubles to get back to God's presence.

God knows we are dust and weak. no one can be like God. so His compasion and love will not die. no matter what you do, no matter what you have done... God will seek you, forgive you, love you, and try to teach you.

it is our choice.

sin blinds us. even if it isn't our fault. sin is dark.

this is why we need the bible and to be a family.

you are chosen. you were born chosen.

Living Sacrifices

1Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God–this is your spiritual act of worship. 2Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is–his good, pleasing and perfect will.

3For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you. 4Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, 5so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. 6We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man's gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his faith. 7If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; 8if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully. 9Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. 10Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves. 11Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. 12Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. 13Share with God's people who are in need. Practice hospitality.

14Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. 15Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn. 16Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited. 17Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everybody. 18If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. 19Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,”says the Lord. 20On the contrary: “If your enemy is hungry, feed him;
if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.” 21Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

hey everyone! i just wanted to say that trying to learn about God and His will is pleasing. you are pleasing God by wanting, searching and fellowshipping in His will. YOU are pleasing God by excepting His gift of Jesus. re-newing your mind is learning and becoming new in your ways. you are excepted the same by Christ no matter how much or little you know. we are all different, and must work towards being pleasing and loving to eachother.... we belong to the other members of God's family. i will i could share all of God's words with you. there is so many lovely things to learn.

Ecclesiastes 4

1 Again I looked and saw all the oppression that was taking place under the sun: I saw the tears of the oppressed- and they have no comforter; power was on the side of their oppressors- and they have no comforter. 2 And I declared that the dead, who had already died, are happier than the living, who are still alive. 3 But better than both is he who has not yet been, who has not seen the evil that is done under the sun.

Hi everyone! the last couple of days i've been struggling with my mental health, and being anxious and even deppressed. staying in the word of God has helped alot. yesterday morning i read this scripture; we are not alone in our feelings. there is oppression. i read this and was reminded that Christ came and walked amonst our pain. i am healled in my thinking, for it is re-newed..... but i must continue this re-newing through the word of God and the mercy of Christ. i will still struggle. i will see those i love struggle.
i will put on the full armor of God, i must. i will fight the darkness with the truth of the scriptures. and i will reach out to those around me, and try to love others with the beautiful gifts that God has given me.
when i cry out and feel alone, i will know that God will not leave me. when i feel Him far and hidden from me; i will stay faithful knowing that when He touches me again i will be even more blessed than before. and when i cry, it will be His hands, feet and torchered body that i remember. He soothes me... i will rest in the great hands of God, being called His child, being forgiven, and special to Him.

keep searching. for seek and ye shall find.

God,
I lift Dee up before you right now and I just ask that you will comfort her, love on her and show her how close you are to her right now. Show her your love and help her through this time Jesus.
Amen.

Management of what God has placed before you:

James chapter 1 - focus trials as joy, and on your requests for wisdom!

Philippians chapter 3 & 4 - focus on Philippians 4:6-9

ISAIAH 27:1-5 – you are the vineyard!

There is a season for everything a time and purpose for everything. Ecclesiastes chapter 3

Our problems shape our spirits. There is a time and place for pain (pain teaches us). God tells us He is everything we need. Allow Him to draw you close. James tells us that we are to count our trials as joy (because they shape and teach us). The scriptures tell us that if we lack wisdom in these matters to just ask God… who gives liberally! Then we are told not to doubt… or we will be tossed in our thoughts and unstable in everything.

In Philippians 4 we are told that mature Christians praise God in everything and we are commanded to dwell on what is praise worthy.

Everything all together… practice changing your thinking. Practice …growing…
Practice excepting that God is in control and you are feeling and being who He created you to be. If you are humbled like Paul with the thorn in his side to having being swallowed like Jonah or broken like Job…. Know that you are God’s child… created to be like a first fruit of His creatures…learn to manage what you have and PRAISE GOD.

Praising God: being who you are is praise. Making God proud of you is praise. Choosing to be His child is praise. Taking care of yourself and family is praise. Enjoying the pleasures God made for you is praise… even down to enjoying a bubble bath.

Knowing this new definition of praise should broaden your idea of dwelling on what is praiseworthy too.

The Bible promises that all good things come to those who love the Lord. Expect to see that this is true. Just practice, practice, and practice! Practicing putting on the truth and sword of God’s love, and your worth.

The Armor of God

10Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. 12For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate ofrighteousness in place, 15and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. 18And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.

Romans 1:17
For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.”
Romans 1:20
For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities–his eternal power and divine nature–have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.
Romans 2:1-4
You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge the other, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things.
2 Now we know that God's judgment against those who do such things is based on truth. 3 So when you, a mere man, pass judgment on them and yet do the same things, do you think you will escape God's judgment? 4 Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, tolerance and patience, not realizing that God's kindness leads you toward repentance?

we will stand in judgement... but our judge is not goung to put us to shame. our shame will be in the things we have done apart from the will of God. i don't want to open this can and debate, for this is an issue we debate... i just want to say that if we do not listen to the Holy Spirit, then we will be condemned.... judgement to me will be a celebration... because God will have revealled Himself to those who would listen, and finally this life will be over. evil things will once and for all time be thrown into the depths. we will be reunited with our beautiful and loving Master and creator. if i fall away from the teachings i have learned, then i too must forever be seperated from life. evil does not belong in the presence of God.
Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, tolerance and patience, not realizing that God's kindness leads you toward repentance?

we must fight our earthly desires/ the flesh... and crave to walk in the spirit/ biblical truths.

the riches of his kindness, tolerance and patience

James 1:12- 18

Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him. When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; but each one is tempted when, by his own evil desire, he is dragged away and enticed. Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is fullgrown, gives birth to death. Don't be deceived, my dear brothers. Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of all he created.

practice, practice, practice; one thing at a time, one step at a time, if you fall, get back up. but you have to try. you do become blessed if you persevere, because it is very edifying...

edification is a very awesome feeling!!! that is one adiction that is fun, filling, pleasing to God, good for your soul, and you won't feel guilty.

Romans 8:18-39
18 I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. 19 The creation waits in eager expectation for the sons of God to be revealed. 20 For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope 21 that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God. 22 We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. 23 Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies. 24 For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what he already has? 25 But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently. 26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. 27 And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God's will.
28And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him,who have been called according to his purpose. 29For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. 30And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified. 31 What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all–how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? 33 Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. 34 Who is he that condemns? Christ Jesus, who died - more than that, who was raised to life - is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? 36 As it is written: “For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.” 37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

("but the Spirit himself intercedes for us": i find that so comforting Bevlina!)

Romans 7:21-25
So I find this law at work: When I want to do good, evil is right there with me. For in my inner being I delight in God's law; but I see another law at work in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within my members. What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death? Thanks be to God; through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, I myself in my mind am a slave to God's law, but in the sinful nature a slave to the law of sin. - Paul the Apostle
